UnderRated Games

There is already a hate thread for “overrated” games, but what games do you think deserve more attention?

Here’s mine:

-Psychonauts- Totally awesome. Deserves a sequel.
-Psi-Ops- Basically invented physics in videogames
-Army of Two- Co-op with a HUMAN partner was a blast. So was getting a gold-plated AK-47 with an undermounted shotgun.

May be of interest if you haven’t seen this, Psi-Ops for Free on PC

Definitely Psychonauts. A spectacularly written game.

Minesweeper.

Once you get to know how to play it, it’s actually a really good game if you are doing boring stuff like unrarring or burning a CD.

I am not joking.

Army of Two was absolutely overrated.

Dreamweb.

prey. very cool uniqe game that really needs a sequel…

Oh right, I forgot to include my underrated game: Call of Cthulhu for the Xbox 1. Fucking fantastic game, amazing atmosphere, and this awesome ‘mental stability’ feature that made your character trip balls when monsters were around. :jizz:

silent hill
beyond good and evil
earth 2150 ( my god, when it came out it blown me away, most rts games even today dont have half of the options it had )
prey

OMFG I loved that game!

Geez, I really don’t think Silent Hill was underrated at all, however it did come out along side the already established Resident Evil games, so perhaps it was eclipsed.

I kinda feel that Jade Empire belongs in this thread. Sweet mercy that game -needs- a sequel.

Any game with a character called Sir Roderik Ponce Von Fontlebottom The Magnificent Bastard deserves the highest praise.

^

He was hilarious. I can’t help but wonder if the Bioware crew were Terry Pratchett fans. Alas, poor Terry.

Speaking of which, I would love to see a game based in the Discworld’verse.

As always with these threads, got to join in with the pimping of Psychonauts.

I also forgot to mention the Abe’s Odyssey series (first and second ones getting special mention).

I’m looking forward to seeing this thread fill up, there’s a ton of games I know I’m not thinking of but would definitely look up again.

before silent hill 2 nobody gave a shit about silent hill ;] Its funny how now noby give a shit again after the crappy sh4 and 5 ;/

meybe i will instal it and check it out once again ;D I loved taking my best units to the next map ;D

B’ah, the first Silent Hill was the best. But yeah, the latter Silent Hill games were less than exceptional. Homecoming was a breeze, interesting enemy designs though, for the few that it had.

Tombi! and Tombi! 2 (Tomba in the US)
Digimon World

This may sound weird (but it’s judging on what the community often say).

Counter strike: source.

Many people say that it’s the place where n00bs feel good as it is easy. WTF. Sure it’s easier than 1.6 but not by much. A community makes an online game hard or easy, players are all on the same boat.

Decay for the PS2 was an underrated game. It had co-op mode only. There was no single player where you could control only one character. You either had to control both characters by yourself or have a friend play along with you. Gearbox Software was supposed to make it for the PC but Sony did not let them. There is a free PC port mod that Ukranian developers made. Just click this link to get the download page:

Legend of Zeld: The Wind Waker. When I initially saw screen shots for this game when it was in development I remember being repulsed by the cel style graphics (plus I wanted a more direct sequel to OoT). However I completely turned around on this stance when I saw how beautifully crafted the world was, animations, environments, the whole thing.

The main failing I found with the game was navigating the seas, which sometimes took a hell of a lot more time than it should have. Outside of that spectacular game.
