Trying out Cinematic Mod

What, the BM team (think Raminator) said that-

Hmm… well I remember installing an old Fakefactory Alyx model and her hair got all screwed up so it looked like she had a beard :fffuuu:

You people are a sad, pathetic bunch of wise men of Gotham

CM isn’t worth it. First of all, it’s a super massive file. Then, you choose from bizarre looking character models or the old ones, so you choose the old ones unless you like creepy anime looking female citizens, slutty Alyx, retarded Eli, Gerard Butler as Barney, and some other dumb models. After that, whatever HD textures he claims to put in aren’t even noticeable. And then, there’s freaking ferns everywhere and weird-looking trees. Finally, you get to listen to a “cinematic soundtrack”, aka music taken from other movies. The only thing somewhat worthwhile are the iron sight weapons, but the rest isn’t worth it.

TL;DR - CM is too big and changes the atmosphere of HL2 for no good reason.

After installing without most of the optional content, this is why I uninstalled:

  1. Even though I have a system that should be capable of running this (Mai PC5), there was not lag, but stuttering. Quite annoying.

  2. It was almost as dark as Doom 3. And the flashlight/sprint combo was possibly WORSE than the Doom 3 light mechanic (normally it’s alright, but now that you actually need the flashlight everywhere…)

  3. The AR2 got a redesign that didn’t even slightly resemble the original (to be fare, the original isn’t that fitting, being it used to be a flare gun)

  4. Gameplay changes that were unnecessary (up to 5 alt fire SMG nades I believe, increase nade capacity + radius, game wasn’t built for the radius it had.)

And the final nail in the coffin for me, 5: He replaces story elements, most notably the seven hour war newspaper, with pictures of skimpy models (And not the polygon ones either)

No thanks Creepy German dude, I’ll just accept valve’s graphics.

Lol you will not believe how hard I loled at this ^^

LOL too much hate for Mr.Fakefactory … well HD models are “really” bad but Light Edition is worth the try.

Hope he will realize his mistakes and CM11 or 12 will be to everyones expectations.

I played HL2 with CM 10.94 Light Edition and I liked how combine AI was different. They seemed to move around more, shoot while running, jump over various obstacles or from larger heights. However I found it annoying that at the end, right before breaching the citadel wall, combine NPC’s used grenades a lot more often. Sometimes 2 grenades were thrown at a time.

Edit: In the original HL2 NPC’s also can shoot while running, guess i didn’t notice that for some reason.

It’s only the Metrocops that stand still while shooting.

The main reason why i have deleted CM: https://www.cinematicmod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=735

You stopped using it because some random yelled at you? that’s kinda lame.

It suck, end of story.

Poor Mr.Fakefactory … remember he is doing it for free …

I don’t mind changes in enviroment, as long as it’s realistic and not stupid. (like the bridge he added at the start of Highway 17) but the character models, weapon sounds, and soundtrack get on my nerves. Eli Vance looks like a retard, Mossman looks WAY too young, and yes, Alyx is a pornstar. Why? Because the creator is a 43 year old, while talented modeler and textur…er…, pervert. He makes all the women look WAY too hot, and all the guys look way too wierd. I want SOME realism in my game dammit!

So that’s why I mod the mod.

Edit: Also, I’m fairly positive 10 was his last version as he was sick and tired of the complaints about character models (stupid complaints because you can easily remove them) and everything else.

He is doing great job with pushing Source to its limits but dont understands why cant he make good HD models … lol well … Im pervert so I love his Alyx and Mossman xD But you are right … males looks weird like too young Breen and weird Barney lol and Kleiner is so unnatural

So good about mod: Better graphics, partially soundtrack
Bad: HD models, partially soundtrack(some of it is good some not),his own customizations, BUGS!, its too BIG to download and you need steam to run it …

For those who like Half-Life 2 dont play this mod … for those who are graphics whores and like mods, play this mod.

oh btw, I don’t consider him as talented, since he just uses Poser to create the characters and doesn’t even optimize those models.(why would you keep the whole body model if at least 50% of the model is covered in clothes?)

Make that 20%.

And this pretty much sums up my thoughts on the mod in question.

It’s funny, I have 9.0 and it works perfectly fine. Only problems I have are the soundtrack and a missing texture that only occurs in A Red Letter Day. But other than that, it’s honestly pretty fun.

y u so mad

I wonder if any of you would actually hate CM if nobody else knew it existed. You’d probably think it kicks ass and you’d spread it around to everyone you know.

But one day some cool kids on facepunch would point out all the flaws, and nobody would ever enjoy any of it ever again

Or it could, you know, actually be bad. No, that couldn’t be.
