Torvalds likes steam OS

Of course he’s happy. Any way to spread Linux to a bigger number of computers is only a good thing in his eyes.

Linux needs a non-linux company as a champion. Hopefully, valve will be that champion.

I would tend to agree.

Who the hell is Torvalds?

He created Linux.

The guy who made Linux.

EDIT: Maxey’d.

Hey, I was going to say that.

The reason this is good news is obviously because Linux itself is fully open source, I hope Valve doesn’t just make a fork but instead both the Linux team and Valve are working together on a future kernel update that increases efficiency of OpenGL to further emphasize on the advantage over Microsoft’s D3D.

That would be ideal, if gaming became fully open. It’s such a closed system right now it’s ridiculous.

@Bur They have a wright to protect their copyrights. But I agree with you, modding assets in some games is nearly impossible. Far too irritating in some cases even.

So you are telling me I should have waited to make you look like the idiot instead of me? Right…

I’m not talking about piracy or anything, I just don’t like the fact that Microsoft pretty much has a monopoly, although it’s not as bad as it used to be, I guess, even without Steambox.

Ah. Is that what you were talking about. Yeah, that’s a welcome change, 'specially since they keep putting DX on newer versions of windows and not making them backwards compatible. It takes me years to actually upgrade my OS because I’m content with the shit I have, the only reason I’d upgrade is if it’s necessary to play a new game that I want to play.

Get it together, TGP!

People have been telling TGP that for as long as I’ve been on this forum, shit ain’t gonna happen.

I hope SteamOS will be successful, would be nice to finally have all games on linux. I only still have Windows because of the games, all the other stuff I do can be done in linux even better.

I agree with you.
