hm…top 5…
1) Donkey Kong Countries - I grew up on this game. I can still go back and play this game today and have a truly enjoyable experience.
2) Tribes 2 - Online team based action so intense that this was the first game that required me to go out and purchase my nVidia TNT2 graphic card. Played this game on 56k. I joined a tribe, the total war dogs (TWD) and then later P.O.W. I still rember when I was invited to pow. Was playing on their official CTF server when everyone on my team left. I switched over to engineer class and built the most elaborate base defenses than not even there entire clan could capture my flag. The match finally ended when the only way they could enter my base was to deploy a mini nuke (Also cant forget about construction mod, the original “garrys mod”)
3) Need for speed 3:HP - you can jump an Lamborghini Diablo off a 2 story drop and land on top of a cop car. Also playing cops and robbers was a blast, placing the spike strips at the bottom of ramps or around blind corners.
4) Myst/Riven - hands down the more visually stunning and immersive games for there time (also riven still can stand on its own after all this time)
5) Halflifes - Brought story telling to the next level. Was also one of the first games to have contiguous levels.
–Honorable mentions–
Perfect dark - amazing FPS that had more customization and advanced features than games avliable today.
Little big planet - The creativeness, uniqueness, and sheer fun in every platformer I have ever played all wrapped into one.
Gran Turismo - Showed what a racing simulator could be.
Command and conquore: Red Aleart. - First Lan game I have ever played, I still remember shouting back and forth across my friends house. (each computer was on a different floor.) Talking smack not realizing his mom had come home wand was in the living room. good times…
