shhhhh… That never happened.
Oh, and I agree with Johnyo.

pretty sure they’ll just use the hl2 system… I mean, why wouldn’t they
Sadly, Source isn’t know for it’s realistic sound effects XD
Although that’s mostly the fault of the people who code the weapons, so we’ll see.
Well guys, I just so happen to own a crowbar, very similar to the one in Half-Life 2, just blue. And hitting concrete with it sounds like metal, from my personal experience. It makes sense, because concrete is too stiff and has a lot of inertia to resonate audibly, so most of the energy goes into the crowbar, which in turn vibrates, making a metallic sound.
Moreover, if you hit wood with it, it just sounds like wood, as the wood is soft enough to absorb most of the energy.
Also, hitting someone repeatedly with a crowbar in the foot will not kill the person. I tried, doesn’t work, sorry Gordon!
Then it’s a wreckingbar, not a crowbar. I don’t even know why they called it a crowbar in HL to begin with.
It’s whoever makes and mixes the sounds, not the people that make the guns do stuff.
I meant the way the sounds are engineered, not how they actually sound.
You make no sense. Are you saying the sounds are out of sync or what?
you know that sound effects are just .wav files and have nothing to do with the engine at all right? or are you honestly that dense?
they’re synonyms you clod. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wrecking_bar
Yeah, and a lack of common sense.
What is this, are we using the XRay Engine now? I’m so disappointed.
Just kidding.
He’s probably talking about EAX or something.
Something that can’t be fucked with in Source, sadly. (at least I don’t think)
Here’s something I don’t want to see, if a scientist or guard is following you they shouldn’t walk right into barnacles, they should walk around them.
^
This.
If I can see a hazard, so should they.
Maybe they should only be able to walk into a barnacle when in combat/ panic?
or in scripted sequences like in “We’ve got hostiles” (the scientist you encounter talking to the security guard, right after chapter starts; he is not running into a barnacle but into a tripmine, which is also an avoidable hazard)
How about the scientiest saying some injokes about a game they all play in there lunchbreaks. aka “man i love playing this game, i can’t wait for part 3 to come out. it has taken ages… literally!”
just little nods of self-awarity humour?
“What is Valve taking so long with Episode Three, I want to know if I’m going to survive this shit. :fffuuu:”
coupled with your avitar, that post was lulzy.
I like your Xmas avatar, Catz.
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
