Things you DON'T want to see in BM.

How much do you know about… ORGANIC MATTER!? :stuck_out_tongue:

Enemies that don’t explode once Gordon hits them with his crowbar.

wish granted. gibbing is rare in BM, and only high explosives and (occasionally) point blank double barrel shotgun blasts.

No, he doesn’t want to see enemies that don’t explode once once you hit them with the crowbar.
Double negative.

I don’t want to see double negatives in Black Mesa.

Well how exactly do I prove my point?
I want to see enemies that don’t explode?
I don’t want to see enemies that explode?
Either way if that counts as a double negative I can’t prove my point.

“Things you don’t want to see in Black Mesa”

“Enemies that don’t explode once Gordon hits them with his crowbar.”

The better way to answer that is “I don’t want to see enemies exploding when Gordon hits them with his crowbar.”

Alternatively, you could’ve just said, “Enemies that explode when Gordon hits them with his crowbar.”

English is fun!

English is fun, but only until you find out you’re doing it wrong.

Topic: Correct.
Posted quote: Correct.
Your “better way” re-write: Fail.
So-called alternative: Fail^2.

To properly convert a double-negative to its intended meaning, you have to eliminate both negatives.

Ergo:
Things you don’t want to see in Black Mesa: Enemies that don’t explode once Gordon hits them with his crowbar.

– becomes --

Things you want to see in Black Mesa: Enemies that explode once Gordon hits them with his crowbar.

There, fixed that for ya. :pirate:

Prove your point? You could just clarify what you meant. :hmph:

Oops, missed a few posts.

Duggeek, ur rong.

Your “fix” means exactly the same as the original sentence. danielsango’s fix means the opposite of the original sentence.

Try harder.

Uhm. A double negative already eliminates both negatives. The thread’s subject has a single negative already. To affirm the negative, you have to answer in the positive.

“What don’t you want for dinner?” “Anything that’s not pizza” automatically means that you WANT pizza for dinner. To affirm that you really don’t want pizza for dinner, you have to answer either “I don’t want pizza” or “Pizza”.

It’s quite simple, really, and this is the last post I’m going to make on that subject.

Back on topic, what I don’t want to see in BM is any of the following:

I don’t want to see pointless bickering in Black Mesa…

(I didn’t like Magnussen in Episode 2 becuase of his pointless bickering either)

No. That’s not what I’m trying to say. I’m saying I want them to explode by crowbar. Either way with this thread’s topic, it’s always going to be a double negative.

I liked Magnusson’s bickering. :frowning:

As did I, strangely enough. Added a level of a sort of weak character, unlike all the strong-ish character’s we’re used to, ie; Alyx, Breen, Eli, et cetera…

Me, too. I wonder if Magnusson will appear in Black Mesa, too, the development team didn’t mentioned him.

I liked Magnusson.

He isn’t appearing. They have said many times that he isn’t appearing.

Do you always say things double? Do you always say things double?

First I said the fate of Magnusson in the game. Then I said what the devs have said about him. two separate statements with some overlapping information.

The development team said that Magnuson wouldn’t appear in black mesa source, just like other characters that didn’t appear in the original half life. Now, everybody that actually played through episode 2 probably recognizes the sentence “And maybe I will forgive you the casserole incident back in black mesa if you succeed.”. Magnuson was the black guy (?) who says "My god, what are you doing!’ when you blow up the microwave meal. So I suppose he should be in the game, not that it adds any exciting features.
