Things that get you mad, from history.

Yes, but still extremely hard.

This story is much more common that many of you are making it out to be. My maternal great grandfather was also in a similar situation. He could serve the nazi army or be executed. If faced with similar prospects I would think that many of you would comply.

It broke a country, it astonished a world. It is now past and we need to move on. But we need to be careful to NOT diminish or forget what happened to these people or how they got to that point. Many would be speaking of the Jews when making statements like that, but I also challenge us to apply the same remembrance and thoughts to those that served as Nazi’s by force.

I’m pretty sure I don’t have to explain to you what the “Tea Party” is?

Choosing to die rather than to kill other people to expand the Nazi empire was IMO the honorable choice. I think we should all honor and remember the tens of thousands of Germans who made that choice.

Pissed-off Republican die-hards mobilized by former GOP majority leader Dick Armey’s astroturf 527?

Nice edit there, mattemuse.

“I was only following orders hurrrr”

Who are you talking about the Tea Party or the Nazis? O_o

i was talking about all the nazi grandpas in this thread

Not yet history perhaps, but still disturbing: US Soldiers kill civilians and reuters journalists

That’s war for you.

i see what you did there…several days later :x

Yes, but far too hard for most to make, including you.

My God. An accident. In a war. Not to downplay that two kids were injured, but honestly, when everyday you are put in a position where any civilian could be a man about to blow himself up, and any van could be filled with people who could kill you and your friends, you have the right to be on edge, and mistakes will be made.

they’re just blowing off steam, they’ve earned it.

fuck those bloodthristy piece of shit helicoptor guys. in the video they are clearly looking for an excuse to kill somebody. Then shooting on a truck with kids that has stopped to help some wounded unarmed jornalists. not to mention the pentagon trying to cover this shit up aghhh. the world gets a little better every time a us troop steps on an ied

I was in WWII? News to me. Like I said before, lets not forget or try to gloss over the tens of thousands of German soldiers in WWII who refused to fight for an unjust cause and put the lives of the innocent ahead of their own lives, despite the fact that “it was a hard choice.”

As far as the helicopter thing, thats war for you - i.e., that’s why we shouldn’t be fighting aggressive wars. Nobody violated any ROE in that video - if you watch the unedited version, it shows that the combat photographers are photographing combat - I believe they were pointing their cameras at US troops in a firefight. Misinterpreting that from a helicopter is an understandable mistake.

Civilian casualties are an inevitable consequence of wars, and that’s why perpetual occupation of the middle east is a fucking stupid way to get rid of terrorism (not that Iraq was about terrorism). The people who leaked the video to the press are Patriots because they provided us with video evidence of something that should be obvious, but many people refuse to believe is true.
A couple days before the video was leaked, the top General in the middle east said something to the effect of “we’ve shot an unbelievable amount of people who weren’t a threat” in the past 9 months in Afghanistan. Yep, they hate us for our freedom.

The starting of the arab/israeli conflict, we really screwed that up.

I’m saying that you underestimate how hard a choice it is. To leave your friends behind, and possibly your family, knowing that anyone of your close acquaintances could be captured by the Nazis, interrogated, and potentially killed for helping you escape, even if they didn’t even know of your plans, is an impossible choice. Many chose to do it, but for those who chose not to it should be understood that they had very good reasons, and in doing so perhaps saved the lives of loved ones.

Danielsangeo seems oblivious to how his stated opinion is putting him yet another knotch lower in the eyes of everyone else. The respectometer only goes so low Danielsan. You may be best to let it drop than to push and insist your views.
