I loved the English version, but could never get into the American version, which is weird when you consider it was a lot of the same people.
I enjoyed whichever one it was that I watched occasionally. I think it was the U.S. one.
I liked the US version better. The host actually got more involved and made it more lively.
I just realised that watching the ending to 2001: A Space Odyssey in the middle of the night was a bad idea.
Sound design has never been more creepy.
Assuming in the future it will be possible to implement BM’s code into HL2, do you think it would be possible to take the HL2 citizen/rebel face models and use them as meshes for the face creation system?
With a little modification to the FCS and the models, probably. You’d need to add the face flexors to the model, and the character manifest would need a bunch of entries for each model, (including the variations of that face)
Hmm… With a good texture artist, you could add even more variations based off the skins that are already there, too…
It be more than simple copy-paste with the code, but I can see that going places.
Planetside is so much fun, I only downloaded it out of complete and utter boredom the other day, and I was surprised at how entertaining it is.
All I remember of the ending to that movie was trippy colors and weirdly-edited shots of pools of sulfuric acid.
That’s not how the movie ends. That’s before the actual ending. Go watch the movie again, it’s good.
Speaking of creepy sound, the beginning of 2010 was quite creepy. “My God, it’s full of stars”…it sounded slightly distorted and it was bone-chilling to me. Eeesh!
Right, right, there was that confusing scene where he watches himself age and then ascends into a starchild or something…
Isn’t the monolith actually supposed to be a cinema screen?
Edit: And, Daniel, doesn’t “my god, it’s full of stars” come at the ending, not the beginning? I think the beginning was where they gather around the monolith to take a picture and it starts ringing.
He’s talking about the sequel, which I personally thought was God awful. I wish they had put the “My God it’s full of stars” line in 2001 though. It was in the book, but not the movie.
It wasn’t? I’m pretty sure that it’s what the protagonist said after approaching the monolith on Jupiter.
Everyone disagrees with me (I think because they are so far up Kubric’s cornhole they can’t see the light), but I think 2010 is the better movie.
yeah thats why people disagree with you
He never says it at the end of 2001 film, though it’s at the end of the book. It’s at the beginning of 2010.
That’s totally the reason.
If everybody loves Kubric because he makes good movies, then that means he makes bad movies !
well, eyes wide shut :x
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
