PlayStation 1 and 2 games can be played on it.

Give some people some time, they’ll get an emulator and external piece of hardware for that specific purpose eventually…

Or you can just buy a PS4 and have it work out of the box.

Er… nope? PS4 doesn’t have backward compatibility, as far as I am aware.

Evidently the “Cloud” will allow BC. More details will be forthcoming and they may, by release time, have BC without use of the “Cloud”.

They already confirmed no backward compatibility, and you can’t blame them, moving from PowerPC architecture to x86 is rough.

Finally caught up on Game of Thrones, and all I gotta say is… dayyum!

Or I can spend about half the cash, get an emulator for my PC, and create a custom reader to play PS4 games off the disc on a more powerful system. :bulb:

Does actually, but it’s not native to the system. You need an extra piece of software for it to work. Give it some time once it’s released.

I guess it would be more specific to say: It can, but it can’t read the discs of the previous generation PS (1-3).

That actually sucks, because I was hoping to be able to play my old library of PS2 games.

In any case, a 400$ console is sounding a bit better than a $1000 custom PC at this point.

I am barely a gamer anymore. you would think that would open my time up for other endeavors…

I’m with you on that.

Haven’t touched a game in 2 weeks (and even then it was half an hour of Minecraft with a friend).

Well, right now I’m playing through Deus Ex Human Revolution for the fourth time, trying to get the Pacifist achievement, and I occassionally open Minecraft, but when I play Minecraft I’m barely doing anything. My inspiration has left me. And once I’m done with DX: HR the only game I am looking forward to is Watch Dogs. Nothing else really interests me at the moment. I have a bunch of games in my backlog that I’m not even thinking about playing, like Thief 1 and 2, Call of Cthulu, Bioshock, Gears of War, and maybe something else that I can’t remember right now.

EDIT:

I remembered, Stalker: Call Of Pripyat. I started it twice, but I can’t seem to go past the first boat with all of the NPCs hanging around. The event happens, and then I stop playing. I don’t know what is holding me back. I just don’t feel motivated to play the game, even though I loved Shadows of Chernobyl.

I still have my PS2, mind you.

I also have my phat PS2 with magic memory card that lets me boot games off any HDD or USB stick, but one thing about emulators, they let your PC upscale the graphics… Most ps2 games look way better at 1080p

Yeah, I run PCSX2 at 2-3x PS2 native resolution. It takes a lot of computing power, though.

Would it hurt more to get attacked by a head crab or a “Face Hugger”? My friend just asked me that…I honestly have no clue. I say head crab probably hurts more.

Headcrab, I think, would be worse. A “facehugger” works by gripping the host’s head and injecting its proboscis down the host’s throat to implant its larvae (that would be the correct word for it, right?). Once it’s done its task, then the facehugger detaches and dies, leaving the host implanted with the young but otherwise in full control of his or her body and mental faculties.

A headcrab latches onto the host’s head and the first thing it does it crack open the host’s skull. Then it injects its stuff (whatever it is) into the host’s body and causes the body to mutate including splitting its chest open, breaking all the ribs from the sternum to create a makeshift mouth, and elongating the fingers into claws for protection from attack. It appears, however, that the host is at least somewhat aware of what has happened and continues to be conscious, though not in control, of what is happening.

Therefore, I think it would hurt more for a headcrab to successfully attack you rather than a facehugger. True, the ‘birth’ of the larvae does kill the host painfully but relatively quickly, but if someone doesn’t put the zombies out of their misery, they could go on existing like this for possibly the entire life cycle of the headcrab or host (whichever is longer?).

Are there any good graphics/realism mods for FC3 worth checking into?
