fucking S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow Of Chernobyl has failed to launch completely and I have no idea what it is
fuck

New York drivers can’t fucking concentrate on the road for the life of themselves… Traffic was hell last night.

I keep having this really weirdly vivid nightmare like dream where, as stupid as it sounds, I share my feelings with someone. I tell them I love them and they start laughing. And then there are other voices laughing and insulting. And…I always wake up feeling very crushingly lonely and hollow.

That reminds me of this one very lucid dream I had a while back. (Prepare for the feels train! ALL A-FEELS!)

Anyway, background. My mother at one point just moved out in the middle of the night leaving my father with us kids. My dad was crushed and she nearly cut off all ties with us. About a year later, I have not just a vivid dream/nightmare but a lucid one. It actually started out very nice. My mother decided to reconcile the differences she had with my dad and began to move back in. I was ecstatic… until I realized that I was living in my old apartment. I knew I had moved out and had not moved back so the living-in-my-old-apartment thing wasn’t real. I knew I was in a dream. That meant I knew my mom was not coming back. The great dream suddenly collapsed into a nightmare and I found myself not wanting to wake up. I did and I cried for several hours after that.

So, yeah, that happened.

That’s why I hate dreams and I’m very glad that I barely have any and/or don’t remember them. They just fuck with your mind.

The last one I can actively remember was one I had when I was really young (like 8 at most), and it was just me in a sewer (New York style sewer stuff) with giant red-eyed rats staring down on me from the streets above.

Sometimes I do wake up knowing I had a dream, but simply cannot remember anything about it.

On another note:
I really want to buy a house or flat instead of renting, but the prices here are so terribly high that it’s near impossible for a single youngling with a slightly-above-average monthly wage to purchase one.

Especially since banks go by a 1/3 rule, meaning that a person can’t spend more than 1/3 of his monthly net wage per on loans (which in my case in roughly €550). This includes interest and various other loans (like a loan for a car etc).

Knowing this, I can score a loan of roughly €130,000 over 30 years. Considering that a basic OK-ish 1-bedroom house can cost €160,000-€200,000 over here, the loan I can get is not enough.

Of course I can go for a dump that still costs €90,000-€100,000 and spend the next 5 years renovating it room by room, but that would add an additional €60,000-€70,000 in costs, so might as well go for a decent house.

Sad fact: a proper nice 2-bedroom house just across the border in the Netherlands costs €120,000-€140,000, but doing that requires a ton of extra paperwork (and thus: money) and in the end it’s not really worth the hassle.

Why is my mind against me? A couple of hours ago I had a dream about everything going wrong on the first day of University. I knew I had a lecture, but I couldn’t remember where or which one it was, and I couldn’t check because my laptop was in my dorm room, which I didn’t remember the number of.

Judging by what happened a couple of years ago when I did a CompSci focus program at a different school than my own, I’m in for over half a month of similar dreams.

^ Jitters?

Houses where I am are worth around that much if not more. The average is around $300-400k for some of the older ones. Not sure what that is in Euros, but it’s close. I know the Euro is worth more than the US dollar.

You may also want to factor in the cost of gas and such for work when you do pick out a new place.

Well, that’s the thing about the 1/3 rule on loan-to-wage-ratio. Banks over here (not sure if it’s the same in other countries) calculate that a person needs roughly 2/3 of his monthly wage to spend on “living” (fixed costs, taxes, food and drinks, clothing, gas, etc), which seems a bit excessive to me.

My parents bought their house 28 years ago for (what now would be) €55,000. It’s a 4-bedroom home with quite a big garden. Back then my father was earning roughly €1,700 net a month.

Last year they expanded the house with an extension that was 3 times the size of the old living room. It cost them €100,000. Apparently, the house today is worth €325,000. Can you believe that? Prices have been skyrocketing over the past 5-10 years. it’s near impossible for a single person to own a property, unless the family helped (which my parents can’t and won’t do).

I can believe it. It may be the same here, but I can’t speak to that. I DO know that the market here’s been booming as well. When I was a kid it was much cheaper to live around where I am. This suburb is extremely close to DC, making it desirable for most people who work out of there. There’s upper middle class and high class people who live here now.

Generally the properties out in the middle of nowhere (E.G. farmland) are far cheaper in my experience. A buddy of mine owns two acres of land out in the middle of New Mexico and he’s working an average job. Mind you his internet sucks nuts. It’s a pro-con thing on top of how much you’re willing to spend.

You’ll want to grill the bank/owner(s) about those costs. My sister had nearly got scammed by another bank before she moved into Front Royal, VA. I don’t know how much experience you have with this, so just throwing it out there.

I never have those dreams, but then it always happens in real life. :frowning:

So college fees got jacked up to thirteen grand a semester and I either join the airforce for 4 years to pay for it or try and scramble a reel together in the next three weeks for something resembling a “real” job.

Meanwhile, I’m in the negative with nothing to pad my bank account but my own pocket change.

I don’t know about home loans here, but I do know that 1/3 is the rate at which you qualify to rent an apartment. Take your monthly gross income, divide it by three, and if that amount is less than the monthly rent, you are disqualified from renting the place.

This is so fucking weird! Some of my PS3 games cause my new monitor to freak the fuck out trying to get a video signal. My working theory is that the console is running in 1080p mode, and that a lot of games on the console are capped at 720p, leading to the machine freaking the fuck out. Very odd.

I used to have a 1366x768 tv that was able to display any resolution (from 320x240 to 1920x1200), except 1366x768.

The weird thing is, Batman: Arkham Asylum worked fine, and I believe that game is also capped at 720p…

Mosquito bites EVERYWHERE.

A mosquito actually bit me on the foot through my sock. How is that even fucking possible?

Pro-tip: Fire. They hate smoke. You can also use bug spray.

You wouldn’t believe the dark bite marks I have on my ankles around my socks. They look like huge pimples.

A the moment, my largest bites are these misshapen, pale bumps with huge red patches around them.
