The Rage Topic

Apparently I might have some form of Asperger syndrome.

.>

Eh, I’m sure it’s fine. They said that about me too. Honestly, I think they had out those diagnoses like candy.

or our world, diet and social intake is WAY different than it was 10, 20 or 30 years ago.

Stop chugging red bull, eating lays potato chips and cut back on those cartoons that flash cut scenes at you like a mad dog in a cat care center. I am sure things will get easier over time.

Also. Learn to meditate and ‘listen’ to quiet.

I don’t drink red bull, nor do I even eat potato chips all that often. :stuck_out_tongue:

Going back to the Asperger’s while it’s fresh, I just remembered why they gave me that diagnosis in the first place.
Because two of the “major” symptoms of Asperger’s syndrome are poor social skills and an exceptionally high degree of interest in particular (though different for each person) subjects.

That’s right, according to modern psychology, every socially awkward geek has mild autism. That’s, like, 90% of the members on these forums if you’re keeping score.

Good thing this is the rage topic.

It’s important to remember that autism is a spectrum of disorders, with many different symptoms that can occur in different combinations, and is hard to diagnose.

“Mild” autism doesn’t really mean much.

Unless you’re trying to get insurance in the US, in which case you’re disqualified.

Eh, just because you don’t quite fit in doesn’t mean you have Aspergers. My friend is socially awkward to a moderate extent and he also thinks he has a moderate form of the same disorder.

If you think you do, work on your people skills. I used to be socially awkward myself, but I’m really outgoing now (although mind you I still have that superiority complex going for me - which I REALLY need to work on, but it’s been rearing its ugly head less of late). It’s a matter of picking yourself up and saying the right things and talking to the right people. Once you feel comfortable talking to people IRL you’ll fall right into that routine.

As Catz said, diet and such also helps pick you up.

Don’t forget to exercise. A great side effect of that is that you get a huge boost to your self-esteem. :stuck_out_tongue:

It may be unusual, but I like to watch the rain or just nature in general when I want to have some private/alone time to think. It’s a matter of what niche you want to fill. Some people drive for a few hours (it’s a waste of gas imo), other people go for a run.

Some parts of the practice have been out of date for years now. While some parts of the subject may be up to date; society is ever-evolving as Catz pointed out. That same definition from a few years ago isn’t going to fit now or in 20 years for that matter.

That’s one thing that unfortunately doesn’t change easily.

Well, most psychological disorders are defined by the culture in which they exist, so it stands to reason that, as culture changes, so do psychological disorders.

I was diagnosed with Epilepsy when I was young, which is in the same category. I was cleared of it shortly after getting into high school.

Now shut your ass and eat a burger.

I was diagnosed with high-functioning autism and ADD when I was 11, and got kicked out of a pretty nice school because the teachers didn’t want to deal with me

I was diagnosed with Aspergers when I was a little kid, and I somewhat fit in to what Jeffmod said. I read up on every subject that holds interest to me, and I’m a bit shy in real life.

I remember in middle school there was this other kid who had it way worse than me. He liked to pretend that he was some action hero or some rocker, and I remember him pretending to shoot a gun, or slash a sword, or play a guitar while standing in line or eating lunch. Of course, he never had many friends because of this. I kinda felt bad, but I would be lying if I said I didn’t laugh when he would do this.

Alright, rage quit time that somewhat relates to this topic: I have a 7 year old nephew who has autism and with him, everything has to go according to plan, in other words, he doesn’t like his inner agenda to be affected. The problem is that his mother (my sister) and his father (now ex-brother in law) often buy him a toy or candy to shut him up, and because of this, he’s been raised to expect gifts all the time. Of course, no parent can afford to give gifts to their kid all the time, so he often has temper tantrums. They’ve gotten to the point that he’s been kicked out of the schools he’s gone to, sometimes on the first day! Worse part is that is father is an alcoholic piece of shit who doesn’t pay child support and his mother, whom I feel is legitimately bi-polar, is borderline verbally abusive to him. Really sucks for him. If his childhood continues to go down this road, he’s not going to be all that well in the head once he reaches adulthood.

According to this thread, everyone on this forum claims to have Aspergers.

I don’t. My sister and my dad probably have autism though.

Nope. I may have a moderate case of ADD, but it’s nothing unmanage- Ooh hey look a shiney!

In all seriousness, I was home schooled from a pretty early age (about 5th grade on) mostly it was due to bullies at that point. I didn’t want to put up with it anymore and when my mom asked me if I wanted to be pulled out and do home schooling from that point on, I agreed. It was around that time I started developing my “anger” issues.

I can tell you that I may be alright now, but that’s only because I was pulled out very very early. If I had remained in public school, I most likely would have a much heavier rage problem than what I currently deal with.

That’s my life story more or less.

I’m probably in the minority here but, fuck, I hate summer. It is my least favorite season. I hate heat and summer brings heat. I can’t wait for the non-summer months.

:rage:

I don’t despise summer, but it’s just an excuse for me to be lazy and go into the water.

On-topic: I need a fucking girlfriend…

You and me both. When it’s cold, you simply pop into an extra layer of clothing and you’re good to go. In summer, all you can do is run around naked (which is very much frowned upon 95% of the time) and you’d still be weating like a horse.

Autumn and winter are simply amazing. That smell of rotting leafs and wet wood after a rainy autumn day. The pristine white carpets after a nightly session of snow :jizz:

Also, Christmas. Best holiday of them all. What does summer have to offer?

Halloween > Christmas. And you know it.

We don’t have halloween over here!

Well, actually that’s a lie. Belgian stores have been pushing Halloween-oriented goods for a few years now, but it’s not very successful. Only a handful of people decorate their homes and barely any kids go around trick-or-treating.
