Well Opposing Force 2 story is soame kind of Half-life 2.

I’ve been a half life fan for over 10 years…sigh all those nights on HL: Deathmatch with a take-in pizza, a few cans of pepsi and hot multiplayer action…sigh I miss the good ol’ days…

The Combine are a mix of alien races. Besides you said that all but soliders you think Civil Protections gonna be good. Yes even though you lose so what who cares its still be fun to see how the humans struggled between Half-Life 1 and 2 it’ll serve to fill in the gap. Besides some of the forces we know will be part of their arsenal are the Strider, Gunship, and Dropship (maybe not Hunters as I more or less belive they were used to hunt the White Forrest rebels). Gameplay what benifit would ya need its fun :p. and itll just bridge the gap for the story

The seven hour war is only part of one day. The gap between HL1 and 2 is almost 20 years, so there’s virtually nothing filled in at all. And what is filled in is just a bunch of wild shots in the dark made by people who can’t write. If you’re going to make a mod with basically no plot, go all out like Mistake of Pythagoras or Sweet Half-Life.

Calling a mod the seven hour war is basically just a cheap ploy to garner the interest of idiots.

The idea of a mod focusing on the fall of humanity in a single day is pretty appealing to me… and you don’t necessarily die in the end, you could be a survivor that ends up being a citizen in HL2. But dying in the end would be pretty awesome too. :wink: Personally, the image of humans getting their asses whooped by an unknown alien force in a short period of time appeals to me in a morbidly curious sort of way. Probably the same reason I love films like Cloverfield. Dark, depressing endings are underrated. Plus, seeing the Citadel come shooting out of the sky and digging itself into the heart of City 17 would be nothing short of epic. :aah:

I know I said “you loose,” so I don’t know where the assumption that you die came from. And as for something as awesome as the citadel falling out of the sky, I doubt the writers even have a clue that that’s what happened.

Not to mention the fact that the stuff mentioned on the Seven Hour Ward Moddb page doesn’t seem in anyway fitting to Half-life, Half-Life 2, or anything in between. (L85A2 & AKS74U WTF?)

Well, not like that would be a really bad thing. Can’t really think of any games off the top of my head where the protagonist actually dies.

If you wanted to juice moar time outta the SEVEN hour war, you could have the game take place from several different perspectives. However, I can’t see much variation between the roles.

The 7even mod or whatever it was called had the right idea for soldier replacements, with human sympathizers, similar to Breen, fighting sane people. However, they also wanted iron sights and shitty weapons, which would ultimately drag it down.

Really? Call me crazy but I thought making the 7 hour war have, gasp, 7 hours of game time seemed like a good idea. Make it just tell the story chronologically. And for a mod, that’s quite a bit of game time.

Oh, I’m sure, but the plot of Half-Life 2 (excluding teleporter hijinks), spanned 3 days, but did not share such a timespan in playtime.

Okay do we really know when the invastion started it could have started during one day and went to another not in a 24 hour since though. The mod doesnt really have to end at the 7 hours war does it. Just thatll be the main part. Just cause youd hate the mod doesnt mean every body else has to. Many people would like to play a mod like this. Heck it’s part of Half-Life History would have been nice to see what hell every one lived through thoes 7 hours. Even if you are a cop. This mod may fill in the questions as well like Were are all the Children ( Leak says they’re slaves for the combine but thats the beta for ya). Mean many questions can be answered through this mod. Also as one poster stated you can split it into Campaingns (hope i spelled it correctly).

Seeing as how they tell you where all the children went in HL2. So this seems rather pointless, unless the intention is to replace all the subtlety with crappy exposition.

But the “answers” will either be something explained in HL2 anyway, probably contradictory to more accurate sources, or just plain making things up. And before you know it, people will be referencing it as if it were a reliable source of information.

It’s “Campaigns” try google if you can’t spell a word. And if you did spell it right, then it wouldn’t have the red dotted line under it. :themoreyouknow:
