The Meh-est game you've ever played.

Now, these kind of threads tend to be about either “best/worst/bratwurst games you’ve ever played”. But I’m curious about another thing. Those games that are just… Nothing. You play 'em, say “eh eets alroight” and never bother to play them again.

So, Black Mesans (?), what’s your most mediocre game?

I have to say the original Halo. It was… a game. That you played. I honestly can’t remember.

Enslaved: Oddysey to the West. That was…something I did for a few days.

Well, I never could get into stalker, or fallout. They were fun, but could never really hold my interest.

Dune, both boring and stupid

Resident Evil 1. I love the sequels, but I just don’t really enjoy the first one. Maybe it was because of the acting and oh fucking hell the FMVs, but it was probably due to the fact that it’s impossible to aim.

Skyrim and even Oblivion. The games don’t seem to do anything really exceptionally well and they just end up boring me to tears. I haven’t tried Morrowind but might get around to it at some point.

Half-Life 2

Mortyr 2093-1944, i hate that game.

This.

I think it’s still a great game, but there are several areas I find really boring and a lot of minor issues that really take away from the experience for me.

Not to say HL1 is perfect, though.

Killzone 2/3. Every single thing about is it is just… It’s definitely a product of its time…

…I was being sarcastic.

Though I have heard it said that HL2 is “just a mediocre shooter.” Which implies such a huge amount of ignorance about game design that I can only laugh when I hear it.

Hm, I might have to say Unreal II. I’ve played it a little bit but never really remember that I have it.

Which reminds me, I have a WWII RTS that I’ve been meaning to try out.

Edit: and HL2 really does have a lot of good game design. Valve has an astoundingly good grasp of visual and environmental design, and the levels are full of cues that’ll guide you through an entire environment without you ever noticing them.

All the FPS with the exceptions of the Half Life saga, Battlefield(Vietnam and 2 only) and Portal.

I liked Unreal 2 up until I went back and actually played the original and I haven’t really played it since.

Hell, last time I even played the game I basically only actually enjoyed the part that was essentially the demo of the game. I do like the look and sounds of some of the weapons though, so there’s that.

Yeah, Unreal 2 is a good one (or a mediocre one. You know what I mean). I forgot it even existed until you guys mentioned it.

The team-based multiplayer that was released as a free expansion was supposed to be really good, but by the time I was interested in it it was dead so I have no idea what it would’ve been like.

I liked some of the music though.

The game definitely could have been a lot better. They had good content to work with, though I guess it might have something to do with the fact that they had to cut more then half the game out to make the earlier release date that atari gave them.

Unreal championship for the xbox.

The one with Raiden.

Duke.

Nukem.

Forever.
