"the managed DirectX components for microsoft.NET were not located on this machine"

…is the message I get when trying to Play //drumroll… wait for it…
Warhammer 40k fire warrior
yes, I know, you’re all gonna flame me for playing a crap game etc. I don’t care. despite the fact that the AI was abominable… :expressionless:

anyhoo, it goes on to tell me that it was included on the installation and that I should go back and reinstall the game. No change- I thought it might be that I needed to install DX9, which didn’t work seeing as I already have DX10.

running on windows Vista btw

any sugestions?

Try installing the full DirectX redistributable (updates all DirectX files and should include a number of older DirectX dlls which weren’t included in Windows Vista / 7 and the DirectX Web Setup) from here.
Installing the DirectX SDK from here should also update the files, however the download is over 500MB…

You could also try updating the Microsoft .NET Framework from here.

knowing me i’ve probably done it wrong- I know nothing about files and, well, computers in general. doesn’t seem to have worked. thanks anyway.

Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior Tech Info

Operating System:
Windows 98/2000/ME/XP

Additional Note:
"Note: While the game installs on Vista and 64bit systems an error concerning “Microsoft .NET Framework1.1” occurs when trying to start the game launcher. This can be bypassed by creating a shortcut directly from the .exe in the games directory. However features such as the configuration tool are still unavailable. "

Supported Cards:
Geforce 2, Geforce 4 (not MX), Geforce FX
ATI Radeon 8500, ATI 9700
STM Kyro 2 SE (Prophet 4800)

so how do I Reach that?

I have a nvidia Geforce 560. surely it would still work?

Go to the directory that holds the .exe for the game (“games directory”) and right-click-drag the .exe to the desktop and choose “Create Shortcuts Here”. Then launch from the shortcut on the desktop.

Hope that helps…?

well I found what i think you’re talking about in the “computer” section in start, but there’s nothing that says “.exe”?

How do you normally run the game?

Edit: it worked  thanks for the assist

Glad it worked out.
