The Forum | Complaints & Concerns Go Here

Interesting development indeed.

First of all, shasta (and everyone else that may hold this view) I really dont care what kind of education you have or why you have your views on how people use the english language, I am here to discourage you from your grammar spelling nazi’ism from this point forward. As you can see from the last few pages, your views on how everyone should treat the English language are not appreciated by this forum to the extent you desire. I would kindly advise that you refrain from making such corrections or else it will escalate to a situation that you may find uncomfortable. And I say that in the kindest way possible.

Second, I know Raminator admitted he may have contributed a bit to the attitude, however I would like to point out a couple of things. He has not changed in the past 5 years. He has always been the same. His brand of humor has had us all in stitches since the moment he came on the scene and I doubt anyone that knows him wants that brand of humor to change. It is only in recent months that the mood has changed around here. So thank you Ram for offering up some guilt, but I am not having it.

So to get back to my intention of this thread, I am personally feeling that I should be careful and respectful when newbs come to post something that we have all seen before. In order to win respect, I need to offer respect first. Even to the newbs, morons, idiots, foreigners, non english folk, curious, and dare I say it?.. even the trolls. (shiver) So I will endeavor to treat all threads with respect while I ban or close where needed.

Please feel free to continue folks; however I would like to restate the purpose of the thread:

Huh, thats my gripes dealt with in less than 24 hours. Ever thought about a job with the Student Loan Company?

I think you should just ban the people that go to every thread they post in to just argue and troll, that’s 80% of the problem solved and maybe showing the staff that there is a difference between getting trolled and responding and posting pure shit like Shasta.

and 80% of the forums gone.

I think we should ban the people that want to delete everyone on the forums so they can turn it into a boring endless politicaly correct tea party.

we don’t need to get rid of all the trolls, in fact only a very few people need to be gone. meybe we should have a place in the forums that is ONLY for the people who can’t handle the acidity of the rest of the forums. Make it be known that absolutly NO trolling in that area will be tolerated.

Including you, I’m sure everyone can HANDLE internet insults. But not a lot of people like it wade through all the bull shit just to have a decent conversation with someone. I don’t know about the rest of the forum members but I like to talk about the thread without some dumb ass troll coming in and going “LOL subjecttitlehere SUCKS, UR ALL FAGS”.

well noted.

we aren’t gong to have to take this to the chat thread again right? :stuck_out_tongue:

With a staff member online, I believe that’d be unwise.

I can PM catz to oversee the situation if it would make you feel better.

also my off topicness ends here.

/endsofftopic

Would you? That’d be great. Thank’s hun!

Y’know, it seems like half the people here think the other half are just posting shit, and the other half thinks the first half are anal retentive pussies. The only way I can see to not take sides is to basically have a shitting and non-shitting sections and enforce the policy for each section.
I always figured that “Raminator’s ladies club” and “mass debating hall” sections had been created to essentially give people a place to post shit, but then there was no real enforcement for when people posted shit elsewhere.

I’ll admit the chances of that idea working are slim, but I’m just tossing ideas out.

not a bad idea really grey

let the trolls spam the shit out of each other in the spammy areas, keep the discussion and suggestion sections troll free.

:hmph: I said it fiiirrrst.

and as such I agree with grey, only I think that the trolls should get ALL the subforums outside of actual discussion of black mesa, because we were here first. :stuck_out_tongue:

Agreed, off-topic remains untouched… to an extent (…Idiots like Fee…), the rest is moderated.

I agree with Grey, you stick to neutral territory, not choose sides. This is just the fact I’m going to stay as.

I agree with both view points, but as with democracy and communism, if you choose some key components of it and mix the two, it can and might work if every one agrees.

To the point: A mix of having some fun and the trolls can have reign in some areas of the forums and not in others.

It keeps the panzies happy and it gives people like me entertainment.

Yep.

No, it’s just because everyone has a different opinion on what is shit and what isn’t. There isn’t any factual way to measure shittiness. So yes, I actually do believe that since it seems like the least retarded way to do so.

Okay, then let’s just agree to disagree.

Agreed, I prefer to stay neutral. Trolling is fine and funny most of the time, my point earlier was that the kind of flaming/grammar nazi’ism may not bother a lot of people, but I think it puts lurkers off posting suggestions.

Request that the trolls have General, cause the off topic isn’t really big enough for everyone to troll comfortably. ( I am totally serious here. btw)

Imo some forum DESIGNATED for the trolls/flames. Doesn’t matter if it’s general discussion or off-topic. Just some forum.

Hell create a new subsection.

well that’s what I was originally saying, except to make the subsection for the guys that can’t handle a good flaming, because as I have said before, we trolls were here first AND would appear to greatly outnumber the people who want unconditional niceties.

You guys keep throwing out these terms so much like “trolls” “elitist” and all that crap.

I guess the difference is a troll is someone making jokes and winding people up for fun, whilst an elitist is a person who genuinely thinks they are better than everyone else and feels compelled to flame and ‘educate’ them.
