I want to try something for the next week or so by taking a quick temperature check of the forums. [COLOR=‘LemonChiffon’]So for you lurkers, this is your opportunity to post why it is that you are NOT posting.

Without naming names and without directly attacking others on these forums, I would like to hear how you folks feel about the forums and what some of your concerns are. Beef about moderators? Beef about behaviors? Beef about topics? Beef about _________ ?

[COLOR=‘LemonChiffon’]Please use constructive words and keep your raging to an extreme minimum. [/SIZE]Just as your local grocery store is going to card anyone that ‘looks’ under 30, I am going to delete any posts that ‘look’ like an attack on someone specifically.

CatzEyes93- It would probably end up being more productive to ask people to PM you the answers to your questions, rather than air their grievances in public for everyone to see. I can see how this format would depress the number of responses.

The reason I don’t always post is because I’m really busy, and most of the time the topics don’t really interest me.

Probably because when someone posts that isn’t in agreement with the majority it usaually goes down like this:

Would-be poster:“Hi, I’m Bob, I like the color green.”

Forum member:“Who the fuck are you, we don’t care and you’re a fag for liking green.”

Would-be poster:“Sorry, but I don’t care what you say. I like Green”

Moderator: Would-be poster suspended/banned for flaming

Forum Member: lmao

This is like what happened to me, I asked for one small thing, and everyone flamed me, they didn’t just be nice and say no, they told me to fuck off and stuff, just because they could.

I think [COLOR=‘Red’]XXX is my fav mod as is helpful :stuck_out_tongue: (gave me a big long list of how to convince my parents to get 7 and it sort of worked) and I spend most of my time just reading over threads, but lately I signed up and became active. :stuck_out_tongue:

EDIT: Just realised I am a Houndeye xD

T3h Flaming, and added fuel seems to only happen to folks who
1: do not read the faq
2: do not use the search function
3: use the forums as a social outlet instead of a discussion board related to
black mesa or the half life video games
4: Have no way of intelligently backing up a statement they make
5: Have no sense of sarcasm
6: Pick a fight with the unstoppable juggernaut that is raminator

Have to agree with this, the forum is sometimes a bit of a letdown due to the immense hate that can be had.

I guess the age group doesn’t help. Anything you post - related or unrelated to the mod usually follows with some smart arse comment to incite a flame fest - the mods should just delete this crap and be done with it.

I am looking forward to the mods release nevertheless.

I agree 100% with this. But in all honesty how can people talk about a mod when everything has essentially been discussed concerning the mod? The only "discussions" of this mod are speculations and absurd requests.

On that note I don’t usually say anything in the forums (Unless I’m drunk and other circumstances ensue) because as I said before, most topics have already been discussed about the mod and also there is now a pretty extensive wiki. (Which I want to thank everyone who was involved with the information supplied to it.)

There are allot of members who just aren’t friendly at all and I can understand most lurkers dispositions about maybe not wanting to sign up because of it. I’ve been guilty myself a couple of times for that. And plus there is no point anymore in signing up. Everyone just wants the mod to come out and for anyone to express that in these forums results in a closed thread and/or ban. And the other threads are just mindless small talk… So what’s the point for new people to sign up?

My complaint is that many people actually give a crap about a comment on the internet and take it to heart. I’ve been a fag and an ugly thing under a hat since I got here, but I still <3 you guys.

the best advice that I have for newbies is to just keep posting and don’t care about how mean someone talks to you. If it’s good advice, use it. if its bad, just lol with the crowd and move on. you’ll be a regular in no time.
