The Elder Scrolls Online

Yep, that just happened.

I don’t know how to feel about this. TES has been going down the wrong road for me and with an mmo coming out I just don’t know what to say.

I also don’t know what to think about the fact that its not under Todd Howard. Disliking the direction or just recent TES games I wonder if maybe a different lead and development studio in general might be for the best. Maybe a 3rd party will have a better view on what TES fans want rather than what Bethesda wants to do.

sorry for double post comp got weird.

Can’t wait for all the variations of “arrow in the knee” player names.

Seems rather interesting.

How long has this been in production/pre-production anyway? I remember reading something about it way back around the time of Oblivion, and I think it might have been old new at that point already.

aaahhh crap I was hoping that these were just false rumors. I just hope this doesn’t detract from the real elder scrolls games.

^This. I hope it doesn’t turn out as the Warcraft games that ended when WoW was released. People still want Warcraft 4.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO.

NO.

just NO.

hmm…actually, I’m wondering if it’s bullshit. ETA 2013? Next year? Even Blizzard release information on upcoming games sooner than that. Made by the DAoC guys? Riiight, that sounds pretty bad already.
Also, considering that THQ decided to change Dark Millennium from an MMO to a Single Player game because they believe that the market isn’t good for MMOs right now also makes me wonder.

BUT…having just checked their official forums it really does seem real. Ugh.

Definitely real.

Not being made by Bethesda proper though, it’s a new, different company, so it shouldn’t really affect anything if it sucks.

I would hope they’d use the TES brand name to really mix up the MMO bag, but it’ll probably just be WOW in Cyrodiil. An MMO that plays like an Elder Scrolls game would be interesting.

Says in the article its been in development for several years. Anything you read back in the time of Oblivion was just rumors though. This is the first official announcement or even talk of MMO development I can assure you.

Although you already looked it up yourself, its definitely real Game Informer is probably the most credible gaming news site, if it ever publishes rumors it clearly labels them as such. Different developer therefor it should have no direct impact on TES. Although its not like MMORPG game play elements haven’t been sneaking into TES anyways (looking at u crafting bs in Skyrim :meh  .

If this is pulled off well then great, but they’re going to have to be cautious. I hope that gameplay isn’t like wow’s though, I’m rather tired of it’s playstyle and other variants of it.

Indeed, but I think these rumours might still have had some basis in reality. It’s been a long time talked about, and is, after all, now announced.

And even if it’s not developed by Bethesda, it’s still under the same parent company, so isn’t it possible that it could still steal the thunder in some capacity?

I personally would rather have the next TES game have a “coop” feature, sort of like the D2 multiplayer model.

But oh well. It could be cool if they don’t make it play like other mmo’s just because it’s an MMO and make the combat like Skyrim but more refined - could make for some interesting PvP wars

Why does every franchise have to have an MMO title?

$$$

more like everquest what with the cat and lizard people

I didn’t even come close to being wowed by this.

If you imagine ‘wowed’ being Venus and ‘me’ being Neptune you’ll have some idea just how far away from it I am.

I am so unimpressed by these screenshots that I am actually going to forget that the even existed and not even bother reading the text.

If you were a woman, a horse couldn’t please you.

Anyway, this seems interesting but if it plays anything like all MMO with the whole right click being do-every-fucking-thing, then I won’t be trying it out unless there’s a free weekend. I was hoping it would be firstperson with gameplay similar to Skyrim coupled with a highly advanced team/co-op system. Oh well.
