Let us wager, Raminator. I wager that Windows 7 will be better than Windows Vista. From all the reports I’ve heard from various people on this forum, Steam works better on Windows 7 than XP and Vista. The HL2 error that comes up in the HL2 games and mods goes away with Windows 7 according to Sersoft. Once I have Windows 7 on my old PC and Mac OS X Leopard/Windows XP on my Macbook, I shall then install Linux and Solaris on my old 1998 Gateway desktop and have all the operating systems necessary for me to be unbored. After that, I will take over the world. 
P.S. The command prompt seems to get worse and worse with each Windows operating system so forget about using the command prompt. :fffuuu:
P.S.S. Do not use OpenSuse for those who want to use freeware operating systems. Use the Ubuntu version of Linux. It’s good. 
Given that Windows 7 is basically an improved version of Vista, it would be pretty staggering if it wasn’t better than Vista (at least, once the inevitable launch-day kinks are worked out).
I’d be very surprised if you can get a recent build of OpenSolaris running on a 1998 Gateway.
The command prompt has been essentially unchnaged in Windows since Win95.
There’s nothing wrong with a bit of OpenSUSE, although I’m an Ubuntu / OpenSolaris user myself. The good thing about FOSS, and *nix distros in general, is that you can pick and choose what suits you best, be it GNOME or KDE, Linux or BSD, GNU or traditional UNIX, etc.
Saying one distro is better than another is like saying apples are better than oranges. It’s all fruit, and it’s all good, depending on your tastes.
Bottom line: please don’t give advice on subjects about which you do not know.
Understood, Lamsey. However, with the Windows OS, they do not always get better. Take Windows 98 and its “blue screen of death” for example. Windows 3.1was better than Windows 98 but by your words Windows 98 should be 2X better than Windows 3.1. Not so.

Yes. It is just my opinion that Windows 95 and Windows 3.1 is better than Windows 98 with the blue screen of death. Windows 2000 was better but the real climax was Windows XP. If you go on the Microsoft website, one of the popular downloads is Windows XP Service Pack 3. Microsoft Windows XP is still popular enough that Microsoft is extending technical support through the year 2014. It is just my opinion. If you like blue screens of death and other errors that you have to fix on an OS instead of having them fixed before the final version comes out, so be it. Blue screens of death suck!!!:fffuuu:

It is exactly because of the “spinning beachball of death” called Windows errors and Microsoft’s error reporting system which doesn’t do shit that we Mac and Linux users prefer to use other operating systems than just Windows. We don’t have to put up with Vista’s paranoid security system that is way too intrusive where Mac OS X Leopard runs security in the background without annoying the hell out of you like Vista does. We also do not have to put up with buying the Internet security software and all the add-on software for us Mac users since it is built into the computer. Also we don’t have crapware installed on our Macs unlike you PC users. By the way, Vista stands for this:
VISTA
Virus
Intruder
Spyware
Trojans
Adware

True. However, Vista still needs to come out with SP2 and SP3 like XP did so that the OS can evolve. If there is a Vista SP3, it hopefully would be awesome like Windows XP SP3.
