The Boredom Thread

Clearly you’ve missed the boat somewhere.

Any Macfag offended by that should lrn2buildaPC. When I bought my MacBook the guys at the store were all “you should put in extra ram, here we have an offer it’ll only cost you €200 for two gigs” and I was all “yeah go fuck yourself, I’ll go to the PC shop next door and pay €40 for EXACTLY THE SAME FUCKING MEMORY” fuckwads.

I love the machines, I fucking hate the price of the accessories…

Where’s the difference

Weird, I bought 2GB in an official Apple retail store for €50 (which is roughly $75, no?)

Anyway, yes, Apple products are overpriced and you pay quite an extra sum just because it’s an “Apple”. I don’t think anyone will deny that, and if they do, they’re blind idiots. But i’ve swapped from PC to Mac 2 years ago and I haven’t regret it at all, just like how my brother bought a PC a year ago and hasn’t regret it at all either. I can still play my games I played on PC (Steamgames, WC3, GW, WoW, AoE, CoD, …) without leaving OS X and I haven’t had to tinker or worry about crashes for whatever software-hardware conflict that might have happened.

So I don’t really get why so many people hate Macs and call them shit, sure you may dislike the price of them, but that doesn’t make the computers or the OS shit. Apart from that, they can do about anything a Windows PC can (apart from running the latest games with graphics set to maximum). I’m also fairly sure that a lot of people in this thread haven’t touched a Mac at all and just follow the general consensus between gamers that Macs are shit and are the root of Hitler’s evil 70 years ago.

I’m not the kind of person to tell people to go and buy a Mac because they’re superior, because they’re not (well, the OS is, imho), and they are a more expensive. But the ungrounded blind hate towards Macs really is getting silly.

Wow, I’m suddenly a zombie. Variety is the spice of life, dude. Remember, I use Windows just like you. I just use a different computer brand that has two operating systems. It really does not make us that different from each other seeing that I use the Windows partition more than the Macintosh partition.

Big Macs FTW! The bigger the screen, the better the viewing pleasure!

Yes he did. Big Macs are good sandwiches by the way, even though they are loaded with fat.

I don’t use Vista so I don’t pay attention to Vista news. Instead, I see what Steve Jobs and Mac are doing as well as Windows 7 development. Anyway, I would rather wait for Vista SP3 to be released before using Vista at all.

I use laptops only. It’s not as easy to build a laptop. I think that I would rather buy a laptop then build one myself, anyway.

Autistic children have high IQ’s for the record, Raminator. Is Steve Jobs autistic? I don’t fucking think so. He’s the CEO of Apple and Pixar Studios. Do your homework before making rumors about us Mac fanboys and fangirls.

It is getting silly. I’m pretty sure that this mob/crowd of Mac-haters don’t hate Linux or Solaris. But as soon as they see a company called Apple that makes their own computers with their own version of an operating system (Mac), they’re like OH MY GOSH, FRY THAT MOTHERDUCKER! Like it or not, more people are buying Macs (especially on college campuses seeing that Apple has campus stores everywhere) and other Apple products. You don’t like Mac, too bad, deal with it. I use Windows just like the rest of you people. I am not anti-Microsoft. I have a Microsoft Xbox and Xbox 360 that I use. Microsoft is good (especially XP and Windows 7). I just wanted alternatives to Microsoft for work purposes and did not want to use freeware but wanted to pay for an alternative. If this MacBook lasts 10 to 14 years, then kudos to the Best Buy employee who told me that. If not, I shall be planning an appointment to the Apple Store to point the finger at them and get some verbal rage off my chest.

Haha

Hahaha

HAHAAHAHAHAHA

dies in laughter

Epic fail at comprehension.

In most cases, but in yours, I’m afraid not.

What I meant is that autistic children are dependent on others and have to live in a group home/nursing home/ et cetera. Steve Jobs is intelligent, however, he is not autistic or a zombie. He came up with the Apple Computer and created an operating system called Macintosh. He came up with the Mac OS in 1983 where Bill Gates partnered with IBM to make OS/2 in the year 1985. Steve Jobs came up with the OS idea first. Bill Gates simply copied him. By the way, let us not forget Bill Gates’ big mistake with the US government:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_v._Microsoft

And you’ve still completely misunderstood the context of the quote you were replying to. Raminator didn’t express any opinion either way on Mac fanboys or anyone to do with apple, Steve Jobs included.

My bad. I like Microsoft and Macintosh with a little bit of Ubuntu mixed in. They all have something for me to enjoy. Mac is good for work. Microsoft is good for play. Ubuntu is good if you want to use their built-in programming tools. I also wanted a computer that will last a long time. I have it. By the way, don’t buy Alienware PCs. I hear that they are too expensive and that they are not the top of the line. Sony Vaio is a much better brand from what I hear and besides they made the best consoles (PS2 for example).

P.S. Don’t buy the Xbox 360. The PS3 is better because it’s the only medium that has Blu-Ray Disc games.

You don’t need Ubuntu and Mac, they’re both built off Unix, and so all the ‘built in’ programming tools you claim Ubuntu has are most likely on the mac as well.

I’d use a unix OS over windows for programming any day.

That’s not funny my brother died that way

Autism does not cut short the lives of autistic individuals. They live long lives. Here’s a link from a doctor’s website:

EDIT: @ Level: I agree that a Unix OS is better for programming than Windows. It is also better to surf the Internet on a Unix OS (Macintosh or Linux) than on Windows seeing that UNIX is more secure and stable hence a safer surfing experience on a Unix operating system. Besides, all the hackers and thieves are using Windows-based PCs to try to break into databases, etc.

I think you just won the facepalm award of this thread.

Not a single hacker with any abilities uses windows. Stop trying to be smart.

Gee, thanks, NOT! I like my MacBook laptop monitor better than my old HP PC laptop monitor. First of all, it’s widescreen. Second, the LED monitor is built entirely of glass instead of plastic like my old HP laptop. Third, I have a built-in webcam on the monitor. For you PC users out there, try to always get a 17-inch laptop. It’s the best kind for a desktop replacement. As I said before, the bigger the screen, the better the sight of high-graphics quality. After all, who wants to play Black Mesa on a PSP or a Nintendo DS? Anybody? I didn’t think so. No one wants to squint their eyes to play this game. They want to see it in all of its 32-bit or 64-bit glory (depending on whether you have Vista or Windows 7 64-bit edition, that is).

P.S. For you XP users out there, XP 64-bit edition is available. However you cannot upgrade to DirectX 10.

The web cam is not part of the monitor, you’ll find that almost every modern laptop has a webcam built in, even the 400$ ones. And glossy displays suck, can’t watch anything on them without seeing your reflection.

And you’ll find that many people want to play BM on their portable devices, as unlikely as it may be, and the architecture has absolutely no effect on the game, even if you’re running a 128bit os, the game is still only in 32bit.

And for dx10, refer to this screenshot I made not long ago.

no

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
