The Boredom Thread

I am so bored on my Apple Macbook that I use my Internet browser Safari and just surf the Internet and go to sites like ModDB and look at mods that I cannot play now because I still need to get Windows XP for Boot Camp so that I can play some Half-Life 2 mods on Steam. When I get Windows and I put Steam on Windows, then I will no longer be bored. Well, that’s my boredom for you. How about your story of boredom? Go ahead and spew out your boredom.

No shit, Sherlock :retard:

Your thread is sheer boredom.

Good luck with that.

First you have to combat the problems Direct X has with Mac hardware, to which there is no cure.

Second you need to combat overheating. Macbooks are like heaters with screens attached.

Third, your going to have to run the GFX so low it will look terrible.

Fourth, it’s a MACBOOK :fffuuu:

Serves you right for owning a Mac. I’ll just enjoy playing games on my PC while you sit there and look at your eye-candy interface.

Wait a minute. I’ve played Half Life 2: Episode One using Crossover Games for Mac, a Windows emulator (in case you didn’t know) and it played fine. So did Portal: The First Slice Demo. It was a free 7-day trial version and has expired a while ago. If those high quality games worked on a Windows emulator running on WINE open source code, those games should work fine on native Windows XP on my Macbook, right? Or should I go with the Windows XP emulator instead of the native version?

I don’t want to repeat myself again.

PS: Crossover sucks.

Yes, I am served right for owning a Macbook that is made from a single piece of aluminum. I am guessing here that your PC is made out of multiple parts. Am I right? I’m also going to guess that these multiple parts are made out of cheap plastic. PCs last up to 6 years because of this. Macs on the other hand can last up to 14 years. Also the Macbook has been tested gamewise and can play Call of Duty 4, Quake 4, Doom 3, and Unreal Tournament (the latest version of the game). If it can play those games, it can handle Black Mesa. Macs last longer than PCs because Apple builds the hardware and the software and they make the computer from one part. Yes, I know that Macintosh OS X Leopard cannot play Steam games. That’s why I will use Windows XP. If games do not work on XP, then I will use the Crossover game emulator for the Mac. If all else fails, I would play my Xbox 360. I also plan on NEVER EVER using Windows Vista for the Macbook. I would rather wait for Windows 7 and use it than Windows Vista.

Any computer that lasts fourteen years has lasted thirteen too many. Not that they should be built like crap, but the technology from fourteen years ago doesn’t even compare to tech from today. I have a twelve year old computer here in the office, and I dare say it still works, and it isn’t worth using it is so out of date.

Cool story.

I’ve been using Steam through Crossover Games for a year now, and while it’s true it won’t have the same performance as on a Bootcamped Windows or a Windows PC (obviously), it runs really smooth even with everything set to the highest settings.

I actually have a feeling Crossover was designed for nothing but Steam, seeing as pretty much all the other games it “supports” run like shite, but Steamgames just run fine.

Yes, I know I should be shot for having a Mac, but it was a natural choice after 12 years of using both Windows and Macs at school and at work.

I’ll be all over ya like shingles

Because I’m bored get it

That’s great that your Mac can last 14 years, by that time it will be so antiquated it will just be a big paperweight.

Penis. Your not laughing, right?

Vista is by far not as bad as everyone is saying. I’m using it, and everything just works perfectly. :stuck_out_tongue:

Neither will Windoze 7 tbh :retard:

brb upgradin to DOS 6.2

Those last three don’t count. Cross-platform support depends on the game. Id and Epic’s support for Linux/Mac OS X is exceptional. In the case of Id, this is partly because they avoid DirectX in favour of OpenGL and SDL. Even then, they have major crossplatform headaches, but I was playing RTCW, Doom 3 and Enemy Territory on my Gentoo Linux box years ago.

So this doesn’t follow.

Nitpick: Wine Is Not an Emulator.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
