The Black OPS make no sense

Why are they even there? i understand the military but why the black OPS? they dont belong there in the first place!! they dont do anything plot except make it more confusing.

Are they their to blow Black mesa To hell or simply mess around with military or get the government off their trails?

They are the most annoying enemy in the game only exception is ninalinth the mutated, upside down, alien fetus that made us sick to our stomachs at the end. I have to say also some parts do not make sense either for instance: what is that sample at the begining of the game?

Why do you not have clearence to some areas until you get a scientist to open it for you.

Some aliens dont make sense either. like snarks what are theyre purpose to the aliens?

Also why does black mesa have nuclear testing i thought they ended that back in the 1950,s. The seven hour war also makes no sense what so ever.

All of it makes sense, it just requires a bit of research and thinking.

The BlackOps are sent by the government to complete the job that the military were sent to do and failed: Kill freeman, cover up Black mesa Incident.

Why did Nihilanth make us sick to our stomach? It’s just an alien!

Gordon was just a lab assistant, he was not authorised to access all areas, as he was only low ranking theoretical physics assistant.

The 7 hour war works because the Combine were so technologically and militarily advanced, that the Earth’s forces were crippled in 7 hours.

Black Mesa were doing lots of things they weren’t supposed to… So were Aperture Science.

Black Mesa was built on top of a closed nuclear testing facility. you never see them testing any nukes, just storing them.

Why is this thread named “The Black OPS make no sense”? It’s kinda misleading. It should be named “Nothing about Half-Life makes sense” Because that’s apparently your opinion.

Nobody answered this one yet so I will.

It’s a Xen crystal. You can figure this because of the properties of Xen (the border world) that are hinted at throughout Half-Life games as well as how much it looks like the Xen crystals when you are actually on Xen.

I love how none of this is explained in-game.

I agree that the first time around, the entire Half-Life series if completely fucking bonkers.

Jake, you are a complete and total idiot.

Stop making new threads!

A laggy video yes, but explains alot in just a little. Also the years are NOT right, there refrences. Im taking them out of the video in the remake.

^ nice avatar.

and yes jake, these threads are getting pretty goddamn annoying.

Jake, you know you’re doing something wrong when you’ve made 7 threads in the last couple of days, and when all of these threads are stupid and pointless.

/thread

Jake. Stop.

I’m partially inclined to agree with the OP, I wouldn’t go so far as to say they make no sense, but are definitely one of the weaker entities in the game. It doesn’t help that they don’t really appear too much in the game, at least in comparison to the military. They do make sense with backstory, yeah, they were sent in to clean up after the USMC screwed everything up, but out of game I think they were pretty clearly put in there because they wanted another faction later in development and weren’t entirely sure where to go with everything. I’d have to agree they’re probably the faction with the least fleshed out motivations, granted for HL1 that’s not saying much.

Of course, the only reason they installed them in the first place was because they caught him playing racquetball in the test chamber.

I imagine that they’d hoped it would create a portal and rid them of Gordon, and made a few miscalculations…

Although I doubt that even the researchers would have access to all the areas; they probably only have access to the laboratories and research areas that they are working in.

Jake, all of your threads suck big time, so in the name of every fellow scientist I’m going to ask you to stop making shitty threads about things you could check on Wikipedia. And for fuck sake this is a GAME, why do you think about things like this?

Is my time again, Why not? HECU mess up, Black Ops clean it up with a nuke.

Wasn’t the nuke only in Op4?

My uneducated guess is that the black ops are taking orders from a different government agency, such as the NSA for example, who are secretly competing with the military to obtain xen technology.

Nuke is canon, my “friend”.

That’s Halo. Not Half-Life.
