The Best Gaming Companies

Who do you think are the best gaming companies, and who is your favorite?

I’m a huge fan of Blizzard Entertainment, Valve, Bioware, Rockstar, and Nintendo. There are countless other companies I could mention as well.

I’m rather young, so I missed out on many old-school games, so my list may exclude old companies.

As for my favorite, it’s split between Blizz and Valve, but I think I have to give it to Blizz for their WC3, Diablo 2 LoD, and the Starcraft franchise.

Activision.

Now that I filled the sarcastic post quota, I have to say that Valve are the masters when it come to involvement with the community. Team Fortress 2 is the perfect example of a game that is made for the fans.

To a certain extent, DICE also likes to listen to the community and supports their games for a longer extent of time than the average. They released a patch to BF2 years after it was launched and everyone thought they weren’t supporting the game anymore. Their BC2 support is also fairly good.

Vlave of course!

Recently read on some forum:

Here’s to hoping is on sale for Christmas on Steam
Who does it belong to now anyway?
Activision
LOL

They don’t have their whole library at discount but they’ve had MW2 for half-price and now they have Singularity as one of the daily deals.

Valve or Bioware.
I think Valve might be better.

Valve (captain obvious)

Basically this thread will boil down to people posting “Valve” over and over again.

Then post a multitude of companies, and explain why you like one more than the others.

I’ll also add Cyan Worlds to the list, because I still think the Myst games were excellent and from what I’ve seen between the Myst Movie, and Myst Online: URU Live, even barely going they seem to have respect for the fans.

EA and Rockstar Games.

Currently, Valve, Blizzard, and Bioware are doing pretty good in my book. Bethesda is also a good company but I haven’t really played anything of theirs since Morrowind (but I just got gifted Oblivion so that’s about to change). Also quite taken with EasyGameStation because of Recettear, just wish more of their games were translated into English already.

Also, from the past, Rare was one of my favorite companies. Absolutely loved their games.

^^

Forgot about them… it’s been too long. T_T

Best of the Three Console runners? Nintendo

Best game dev? Valve

Best Publisher? Zenimax (Just because I heard they are fairly open about letting their devs have creative freedom.

I like Nintendo, Metroid was really big for me before HL came and kicked it down, even my avatar is cross between HL and Metroid. So yeah Nintendo took 2nd place after Valve.

UbiSoft does a great job of story telling in their games. Assassin’s Creed 2 has so far blown me away. And I enjoyed the splinter cell serious as well. (Their obvious gigantic budget helps out allot) And the detail that they go into in their games is jaw dropping IMO. Their employees (Devs) have a passion for art.

Despite their attempt to prevent piracy and having to have an internet connection at all times to play their PC ports, I have had no issues thus far.

Valve definitely the best for me. They have a devotion to their community I see from no other studio, and have created my favorite games of all time. After them, I like Bioware and Bethesda a lot for their games.

Also, Crytek is pretty awesome, but they don’t have many games.

I think hour for hour of enjoyment, I’d have to give it to Black Isle (RIP). But they made their games in partnership with Bioware and Interplay, so I have to mention them as well.

Actually, Looking Glass Studios might have even been better. Also early to mid 90s LucasArts.

I’m beginning to see a pattern here of defunct or totally restructured studios and it’s depressing. :frowning:

Bioware definantly

Id have to say valve, for obvious reasons, bioware for mass effect series, and ubisoft for AC series.

Out of the oldies. Macropose is my fave for the classics such as X-COM and Transport Tycoon Deluxe. X-COM:UFO Defence is still being concidered as the best game ever made.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
