The 20,000 Facebook Likes Challenge

Only second post but i’ve been a long-time luker. Personally, i’m finding the negative reaction very odd and confusing.

A lot of people seem to think that Black mesa is acting above its station. The irony being that the devs have been quite tight-lipped and any information that comes forth is squeezed out of them and any hype really has been generated by the fans themselves.

Don’t be confused when you see all the haters, they are the kind of people who shout “first!” in youtube comments text boxes, so obviously they were the first to broadcast their opinions.

Only one thing is certain, those screens made us all a bit more hopeful.

BTW, as of this post there are 25 676 likes on the FB page. B)

nooooooooooo
not the snarks ;_;

Newcastle isn’t that great really haha.
I probably say that cos I was born here and lived here for the 20 and a bit years of my life so everything just seems normal and eh. I mean the beach is good… but it gets old.

You know,

looking at this image just reminded me how much I miss hazards in games that aren’t pits or bullets. Reminds me of back in the Q1 days when I was a kid, and In the manual they were telling you about how you could swim in water and drown, be burned alive by lava, or melted by slime. It’ll be cool to see stuff like this again being prominent in an FPS, even if it is a remake.

and I remember that manual claiming that the biosuit could protect you from lava, though there isn’t a biosuit near any pit of lava in the game.

It’s funny because they actually did make it burn you slower with a biosuit. I guess that was more for custom maps though

This media release has once again bumped Black Mesa back into being one of the popular mods in the sidebar on Mod DB. Though it only just left that sidebar

The update has gotten me news hungry so I have to ask, without expecting or demanding for an answer, only hoping, when might we expect our next big news update?

I’m gonna guess very soon. Seems appropriate given the current situation. Maybe the end of the week/beginning of next week?

Yes, the butthurt levels among the stupid impatient facebook fans would be over 9,000 if they didn’t release more info soon. Not to say that many of the idiots aren’t already butthurt about the whole thing.

There’s very little point in starting the hype then waiting a few months to carry it further, that’s not really fantastic advertising.

They have just updated their “moddb” page with the new screenshots…i guess there is really hope that we could play the game this year

Ohh crap, I gotta see how those guys reacted to THAT.

“Thank you all so much, it’s really great to have your support! With your help we have now kicked off our social-media campaign towards our first release! You can expect more updates from us in the near future.”

Question to Raminator/JamesKane/cman2k/stormseeker/Katana…:

Just to be 100% sure: what exactly is meant by first release?

The full singleplayer mod, right?

Cyg: I don’t believe you’ll get anything more than a cryptic answer if you get an answer at all.

Jus’ hang loose, blood. They gonna catch ya up on da’ rebound on da’ mod side.

I guess the first release is the full singleplayer, the second will be the multiplayer.
As far as I know, the development of the multiplayer was paused for a while.

Very positive, it seems  or the haters don’t dare comment

OH. MY. GOSH
I just found this mod, never knew about it before. This is easily the best mod I’ve seen on this website. It looks like Valve made it.

I wish I was this guy…

As it is down-under, so it is in Blighty.

Truth.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
