TF2 Mann-Conomy Update: Thoughts, Recipes, and New Items

The only thing it did was bring it into the Orange Box engine.

Yeah, now the toilets you throw have dynamic shadows on them.

yay

Can I just note that I don’t think any of the polycount bonuses are worth it? Sniper loses headshots, soldier loses 1 rocket round, which could get really annoying (its sounds small, its massive), the scout either loses his primary or glitches reality (milk+melee+secondary), and the spy’s is pretty balanced.

Also Steam wallet seems useful.

SO fucking lame. the only thing i’ve found in the past three weeks was a fish, and now there’s these people with these hugely overpowered new weapons and whole packs that give them ridiculous unfair advantages.

Odds are they crafted them. The technology exists. Also, I feel like there is a nerf spam incoming.

The new hats cost $17. Older hats cost less, $2.50, $5, $7.50, or $10. Of course, a great number of hats are not even purchaseable yet. Oh and I find it hilarious that the Scotsman’s Stovepipe is $10.

Anyhow, about the new weapons, if they seem under or overpowered, you can rest assured Valve will change it soon.

An opportune time for idling.

Or just playing because it really doesn’t matter…

You should wait till Valve updates the update that fixes the broken update, because for now Half Life 2, Episode 2 included, looks pretty crap on any setting.

The entire polycount pack is $50 and its 63% off… On a regular price that’s over $100 usd. The fuck…

Valve likes trolling idiots.

This just goes to show that there are a lot of people who are very serious business about the game and that they just can’t see themselves having fun other than for being uber competitive. I laughed hard when I saw the first “guide to competitive play” video for TF2. I mean come on. seriously?

go play Counter-Strike, CoD or something else if you need to fine tune your skills and be a master servant of death.

If someone has fun with it, just let them be. Fun is fun, however you have it.

yes but the point is that they don’t have fun. because the game doesn’t allow them to be super competitive. Then they should just play something else and forget all about TF2. Yeah it sucks. you bought the game and you can never get your money back. boo hoo. cry me a river.

Valve never intended this to be cel shaded Counter-strike with hats.

MOVE ON!

I saw several people today who bought the pack. So there are many people willing to. What I think is cool is that everyone of the creators of the polycount items get a royalty check for every purchase… Not bad, even if it is just in valve store, that’s like never having to pay for another Steam game again.

First impressions about new weapons and stuff:

I’m liking the Black Box a lot so far, feels like a pretty good trade to me. The Holy Mackerel is pretty funny. The Eternal Reward I haven’t used but it is super annoying to get killed by. The Pissgun, I mean, Sydney Sleeper, is annoying as hell too. Shortstop sounds cool when its fired but I haven’t used it yet. Mad Milk is pretty good for helping your team. Vita-saw is the only weapon I’ve seen that wasn’t from Polycount, and it’s so-so IMO. You get to keep up to 20% uber when you die, but your max health goes down 10. People say they like the Degreaser a lot, but I haven’t used it and so far fighting Pyros using it doesn’t seem much different. Haven’t seen any Bushwackas, L’Etrangers or Powerjacks around, or Battalion’s Backup. Anyway, I expect most of the new weapons will be tweaked a fair amount soon. There’s a fair mess of glitches that came along with it too, so that also needs fixing. Other than that, I think it’s a pretty successful update. Item trading is easy enough to do, though a lot of people were caught up in it and forgot to play. That free hat you get for buying from the store for the first time makes all the classes (except scout i guess) look like dads at a family picnic or something. Middle-aged guy + white baseball cap = instant dad.

No one forces you. :expressionless:

Um, so what? What about just finding them or craft them to get the new items? You don’t have to buy everything if you don’t want it.

RIP Team Fortress 2, was a great game back in the day before items/hats were implemented in my opinion. Now it’s a mess, pay more = more advantages -skill.

The advantages are temporary for now; the update is young, tactics to counter the new weapons haven’t been formed completely by the playerbase. Once they are formed, expect a shitstorm of angry people.

Now, how much was that Toque?

let us all whine and bitch about this update so we can whine and bitch
