TF2 Going F2P?

No, it doesn’t.

What will I need to be able to play Black Mesa?Just HL2,Ep2 or will any source engine game be enough?

First of all, wrong place to be posting this. And second, Info on Blackmesa.

There’s already a new plugin that kicks F2P players. https://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1947269

Oh man, I don’t think this will be possible for a long time.

Yes because the team of like 10 people they have working on on-going development can handle all the would be hack creators. Valve better step up VAC if they hope tf2 doesn’t go to the shithole.

well, now i have a reason for trying tf2 :stuck_out_tongue:

They said in a FAQ that they have created a system for it.

Yeah, how many other F2P games have created systems for anti-hacking?

Its escalation, Valve does something then the hackers will do better and then valve will have to up their system again ect. Except in the end there will be more time with hackers rampant than hack free.

Now I don’t feel like playing TF2 anymore

Best decision they have ever made since that whole “Let’s make an online distribution service” thing.

If this lasts, it’ll solve hacker problems. Past that, I don’t really mind it going F2P all that much.

When Gabe said they want to convert entertainment as a product to entertainment as a service, I think this is what they mean. By making it free, they’re making TF2 a platform instead of a game, since they’re always going to be updating and fixing it, instead of making a TF3 to correct any errors or gameplay problems.

A good idea in that sense, but a bad idea in the others that everyone has brought up in this thread. We’ll see how it turns out of course.

Eh, I quit TF2 when the hats / payment services / trading in servers got out of hand, I really enjoyed it as a team based shooter but it’s been dead to me for a while now; waiting on a proper shooter again, like BF3.

^Ever heard something of Vanilla servers?

Wait waht? NOOOOOES!

(EDIT:Are the Uber Update Items free?)

Vanilla servers are just no mods. There are almost no non-unlock servers. And if you can find one odds are there is no one in there.

Every item is free, since you can get them with crafting and finding.

Not true, i have 3 favorited no unlock servers and theyre full almost 24/7.

hahahahaha denied

lalalalalal look at freebies getting butthurt.
I think valve intentionally left the server variable for that

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
