Its not like on the PC its that simple. Usually it comes down to messing with conflicting mods so they don’t conflict, fixing minor bugs with the console that would be game breaking on consoles, and the like. Not to mention mods are unoptimised and would lag consoles.
In Oblivion, there were many referances Bethesda made to popular movies and famous novels. The quest where you must save the husband with the gambling problem from Fort Grief is referancing the awesome short story, The Most Dangerous Game. Fallout 3 has a ridiculous amount of parallels and movie/book referances as well. If you look it up on google, you’ll learn how much shit they base their side quests on. Skyrim is bound to have many parallels too. I hope more original side quests that we haven’t felt like we’ve done before show up in Skyrim.
AND NOW… racial referances. i hope i don’t start shit lol,
but i always sort have thought Oblivion’s Orc race represents African Americans, Argonians-Asains, Khajiits-Some generic minority, Dark Elves-Italians maybe due to their attitudes, and so on. The rest of the races all blend from there, for example, the Imperial race-white dude.
You might be thinking O HOW BOUT THEY USE ORCS AND LIZARDS BC ITS JUST GAME. Yeah maybe, but i always felt they gave certain races different heritages, culture, and discrimination that relate to certain races IRL.
Does anyone else think that Bethesda has given some of the their other races (orcs,argonians,khajiits) distinct qualities/personalities to relate to actual races?
[no racist]
There is racism in the Elder Scrolls games but it certainly isn’t a parallel to any real-world racism. i honestly don’t see any direct relation between real life races and the fictional ones from any game. There are some similar political issues, wars and world history, racism and racial stereotypes in common with real life, but none of them are intentional satire.
Good vs. Evil, religious wars, the rise of an underdog, the fall of a king, a quest for the holy whatsit and even the unmistakable accent of a Khajiit referring to himself in the third-person; like comparing any piece of fiction to the Bible, if you look hard enough, you’re almost guaranteed to find something in common between any two separate worlds, be it fictional works or real life events.

Deal with it.
Yes, I see how wrong I was now.
Wait what?
Well said. I’m gonna have to agree with you on that one.
I certainly see parrallels, but I would have said(with my oblivion limited knowledge):
Nords = Nordic (obvs hurr)
Imperials = Itallian
Bretons = British
Khajjit = Natives
Bosmer = Celtic
Dunmer = Middle Eastern
Argonian = Jamacan
I’m hesitant to say who I think the Orcs would be, and I don’t even have a clue who the High Elves would be. Is there even any real life race that arrogant AND cultured?
I’m pretty sure that’s the French .
if you don’t mind my asking, what tidbits did you find that suggested Orcs were Asian, Argonians were italians, etc.?
i would have gone with Khajiits being Mideastern, Orcs being German, imperials being American, Redguards as Russian and Nords as…well…Swedes.
Khajiits live in the desert and have similar beliefs to Muslim, Orcs are big on power and control, imperials like taking over territories under the guise of a friendly neighbor, Redguards have similar architecture and the Nords are just ridiculously obvious.

EDiT - High Elves are closer to Japanese. Khajiit could also be Jamaican cuzz they loooooooooooves their skooma pipes. Then again, there’s always hash in the mideast too…
Mods are always going to be potentially game-breaking. If you can’t deak with that, then don’t use them. Problem solved.
I would agree with most of these except I would say the Khajiit - Middle Eastern, the Dunmer - Native American and the Argonians are just annoying and should all be turned into boots.
Red Guards are NIGGAS
On a serious note, Tei saying Orcs fitting under the German category makes much more sense. And Khajiits being natives, said by rotfodder, was exactly what i was thinking since many of their race’s character’s names involve “verb+noun” like how native names were given.
Argonians is a tough one. I chose the Asain race because of their angled eye similarity. I apologize if that offends any Asains out there. lol.
I picked Jamacans for argonians because they all seem pretty chill about everything (and they smoke hist trees sorry Jamacans). I would have said Orcs were like Mongols/Huns, because of their armor, and warrior culture.
Yeah, I know, I’m just saying that it wouldn’t work on consoles at all, since the console is really necessary to prevent gamebreaking a lot.
What does that even mean.
Microsoft and Sony won’t allow anything on their platform that is inherently buggy or can cause wholes in security.
Since modding breaks games a lot, its going to be hard to get it on Xbox and/or PS3.
Uh Imperials resemble the Romans a lot more than Italians. Both have an enormous empire and they have Roman names.
You get three guesses where rome is located.
Yeah, but when you think of Italy, you think of spaghetti, foul mouthed bad drivers and the pope, not of Julius Caesar or gladiators.
