TES V announced at last - it's Skyrim!

That’s my point. Lockpicking is something that, in real life, requires skill. So a player that has quick reflexes should have a better time with it than one who doesn’t. Not saying it should be entirely skill based (that’s why Oblivion had the ‘auto pick’ button), but it should help.

i don’t see the relation between minigames and complicated actions. Take “hacking” in Bioshock for example. Lulsec hackers must be have some really high Pipedream scores to break into Sony’s network! There’s no question how they got into Bethesda’s networks so quick; there’s probably an ‘auto attempt’ button on their website.

See this just goes back to the RPG thing. If Skyrim was going full fledged rpg it’d be based on a character skill.

Since Beth takes more of an Action/Adventure with RPG elements approach expect it to be a minigame as much as you may love the way morrowind handled it.

Also unfortunately Shinobi this game is targeting the masses so don’t expect a complicated lock picking minigame either.

I just remembered that you can open locks with spells too. if they decide to keep that in Skyrim, then that will be another factor.

And about the different races being better at lockpicking, it’s true bc i remember Argonians being naturally skilled at picking locks due to their keen eyesight or something like that.

The irony in that is that a blind man would probably be better at picking locks than somebody with great eyesight. The trick to anything mechanical like lock picking is having a keen sense of hearing and touch. Having a ‘3D mind’, being able to picture complex machines in your head, would be a better tool than actual eyesight. Most lock mechanics are inside the lock where no eyes can see.

Also, in Morrowind, Khajiit have a +5 in security while Argonians have none. Yet in Oblivion Argonians have +10 and Khajiit have +5.

Whatever. shrug

Khajiit should be highest ranked in agility and sneak because they are like fuckin stray cats. Skyrim really needs to enforce a new law that all khajiits must be on leashes or within the owner’s residence. it’s not slavery. it’s pet owning.

I hate Khajiit and Argonians, I wish I could massacre them all.

You probably can.

=)

There are mods you can get for Oblivion and Morrowind that replace all Khajiit and Argonians with imperials and Bretons. Their voices stay the same but their models are flopped. The same modder made variants that makes all Redguards appear caucasian, or makes them all bandits and evil NPCs. There are others that remove or replace elves. Whatever your racist opinions or fantasy hangups are, there’s a mod for that.

And while we’re on the subject, i for one appreciate that Redgaurds aren’t boastful, rapping, “Yo yo yo, ma nigga!” blurting stereotypes. Thanks, Bethesda.

I disagree.

THAT’D BE FUCKIN HILARIOUS. for some unimportant characters.

Argonians should die. They invaded Morrowind! ( lol like i care about that )

why do khajiits lick their butts

I want a Red Gaurd in Skyrim who acts like and resembles Samuel L. Jackson and has all of his hardass-actor qualities.

maybe some similiar quotes too… “I’M TIRED OF THESE MOTHERFUCKIN DRAGONS ON THIS MOTHERFUCKIN PLAIN” <-see wat i did thar

i lol’d

argonians in morrowind walk like they just crapped their pants

Yeah. But pretty much all of the walk animations were bad in Morrowind. Skyrim seems to really improve it even from Oblivion.

The walking/running/doinganything animations in Skyrim are looking super good. i noticed them in the demos on youtube. The character had KILLER SWAG when they demonstrated moving around in thirdperson. it’s :awesome:

EDIT:

I would totally reply with the proper inside response but i haven’t played Tes4 in a longg time. I recall some Argonian npc making a racist joke about the Khajiits though. help my memory out, unless someone else remembers.

i think there was a “Why is Khajiit’s cooking so bad?” racist joke too in the game but i can’t remember specifically.

Actually, i think the second joke you mentioned is the punchline to the first. Something about Khajiit cooking tasting so bad they look their own butt for taste.

…i think.

Q: Why do Khajiit lick their butts?

A: To get the taste of Khajiit cooking out of their mouthes!
