i heard the guys that are making red faction 3 saing : it pushed the 360 to the limit , so basily , currentgen is becoming oldgen , this fast? , i think new consoles that are technological untouchble should be released no?
what …grammer
The 360 was never that high tech anyways. But yes new consoles will be coming out soon but a console can never technologically untouchable at a reasonable price and if it was in about two years PCs would catch up and pass them in preformance because you cant upgrade a console.
a console is a console , my pc , on which hardware is way better then my ps2 , can’t play ,say , true crime , at all , on ps2 it works fine , somethings only a console can…
what the f**** is that price difference between the video cards , example , my old mx 440 was WAY bigger then a ati something hD something , and the cost was unbelivble different , they used almost the same material…
First off ur pc must suck and secondly the ps2 version of the game is toned down so it would work on the ps2. Also cost is determined more by preformance and quality not by size and material.
cost is determined shitly my friend
Consoles will always be limited due to their inability to adapt (upgrade), and personal computers will keep on going. Of course, unless the costs to pay for a decent graphics card become unbearable.
when the 8800 GTX fist came in romania it costs like 20.000.000 lions [ romanian money] now it costs from 9.000.000 to 14.000.000 , on what level does that make sense… hell knows
PC’s already took over the games world. Cuts all the PS and Xbox bullshit and you can watch PRONZ!!!1
The golden age of PCs is long gone. Peoples are lazy and wants things to be instant. They want over-simple things. They can’t be bothered with inserting a DVD into the reader and follow the instructions. It’s too long and complicated. And they don’t want two controller (read mouse and keyboard), with one filled with buttons overly complicated buttons. They’re too dumb to use this.
i agree ,they should be killed with a stake knife
Usually they maintain the false impression that consoles are better because they are cheaper.
Cheaper because you get less content. On my computer, I get better framerate, more content, and better graphics on most games than on a 360.
The Xbox 360 has only 512MB of GDDR3 RAM, which isn’t that spectacular compared to 3GB of okay-clocked DDR2 on Vista. Developers like Bungie (and more recently, Valve) have had to make constant wraparounds and cuts to their games to fit these small memory limits, which in all fairness, were more than enough in 2006, when the console was released.
Consoles, with their outdated hardware and very limited OS (only made for playing games, of course) are only kept afloat with their simplicity, proven all the more by the Wii’s skyrocketing sales. You can also say this is the reason why the 360 has gotten the reputation for hosting a fair amount of stupid 10-year old players. ;3
Frankly, I think that console makers should try to go towards the PC’s path, with more customization and open-ended OSes. The PS3 went in the right direction with their internet feature and music player, but both of these were thrown off as side-features, and they do not constitute even a fraction of what can be accomplished with a computer.
PC’s will always be at the top in the long run. When a console first comes out, they usually dominate pc’s graphicly, but only for a short amount of time. PC’s get upgraded and become better than a console which has just come out.
I supose its harder to make a PC game than it is a console game. If your making a 360 game, you make it for identical 360’s around the world, if your making a PC game, you have to make it able to run on so many different systems its unreal.
Ive grown up with PC’s, never really been a console person, i think what i prefer about the pc is the choice your given, so many different choices with a pc than a console.
You’re partially correct. The golden age of gaming is long gone, but not due to laziness. It’s due to the initial investment being too high to be able to have FUN.
When people want to have fun, they want to have fun, and that’s all there is to it. If they want to “invest” in something, they’ll invest in stocks, or invest time in repairing their car, or cleaning their room/house, or doing homework.
I might be willing to make that investment, and I have, but I also recognize that is part of what makes me more than just a casual gamer. That’s not something that can or should be expected of everyone else.
Yes, it is, especially when you’re a new user who doesn’t know what those settings do.
It was one thing when a computer was a luxury. People who purchased and owned computers were the ones who were willing to invest the time into understanding how they worked. When they got a game for that computer investing time into understanding that was all part of the deal that went along with being a computer owner.
Now is different, computers have become an essential and fundamental part of everyday life. That doesn’t mean everyone else has gotten smart enough to use them, it’s because computers have had to be designed to be simpler and more intuitive to use. This is a good thing, but with that comes the ability for people to use computers without really understanding the mechanics behind them.
yarite, I mean, how stoopid. It only took me two weeks of flash card training per game to memorize what every key did, and then three weeks of playing an hour every day before my hand got used to the cramping, and only 6 more weeks before I could tell what keys were actually important and what keys never got used at all. I sure must be a lot smarter than everyone else for doing all that.
This isn’t an intelligence issue, it’s a comfort issue. I have nearly every game I play mapped to a PS2 controller+5 button mouse combo, except for some games that I map to the PS2 controller alone and games like Neverwinter Nights and Baldur’s Gate that are played almost entirely through the mouse.
As far as the main topic though, PCs have the advantage of scalability and continuously increasing hardware capabilities, but consoles have the advantage of a completely consistent hardware and gaming prioritized architecture to design the game around.
Consoles also have the advantage of a comfortable console specific control setup to work around, which brings with it the capability for introducing new forms of input, such as how the Wii has introduced motion sensing as a major game mechanic(even if in a simple form right now) This never could have been done on a PC. In order for a PC controller to gain support, it would need to have PC games that were built specifically to be played using those controls, but for the PC games to be able to incorporate those types of controls, the controllers would already have to be in widespread use. Only a console can do both at once.
^What he said.
Basically, it all burns down to this. Those who just wanna play games without worrying about the System Requirements, patches, upgrade, tech bugs, etc (Almost everyone that is) prefer the console, while those who have other uses too or are old time pc gamers stick with the PC.
PCs will never die out, they’ll keep getting better and better, for more uses than just gaming.
In other words, those who can, get both.
think of this ,console games , are made on a computer not a console…
it has come to this : people who code n’stuff = compuiter , people who game= consoles
but my mainly target was to find out from people superior to me in terms of technology just how fast the curr-old gen cycle spins , it seems to me , that the ps3 and x360 that ware like yesterday are old , the PC_s will never get old as a whole , but cheap neighter [ hope i wrote that right ] , remember that atari first ported games as a whole , on their console , the first ever game , was on a console , then doom came out n’ shizz ,
my opinion is that price need to cut down alot so more people who actually like computer games n software can affort systems that can run games like bioshock , which they buy too , i may talk from a poor country perspective but is still an issue worldwide , the big price variations that seems sensless…
also , it’s just me or bioshock 2 looks like 1 , [ i didn’t play them ]
If you cant get a good comp, just get a ps3, its the next best thing. I have both.
PCs are the best gaming systems out there, but you have to admit, a lot of gold was released for consoles back in the day. Remember, a lot of professional FPS gamers started out playing Goldeneye, and I still play it from time to time. But yeah, because of all they can do, PCs pwn modern consoles.
the next big thing it’s gonna be a console with changeble hardware :-? no?
