I enjoyed this thread.
How about a map pack of some sort? Or a short single-player level/mod? Something that’s relatively less ambitious, but still has potential to be impressive.
The first thing you should do if you have no experience is to do something that isn’t a remake of a critically acclaimed game. And there is a 99% chance you will not get permission. Not only because it’s EA (if they’re the ones that even have part of the rights) but because you will have to also get permission from whatever legal firm owns the other part of the rights. The conflict of even rereleasing the game for people to buy resulted in the game not being available on Steam or GoG until just last year or the year before. They’re not going to say “go ahead” to every person that wants to do a remake, especially if they have nothing to show.
Uh… uhm… what does EA have to do with this?
Anyway OP, for starters and practice you could try just making the first rooms of the game to get an idea of how much work it would be and the kind of help you’ll need. Just muh $0.02.
You guys are a bunch of jerks. Lucas I think your endeavor is respectful and inspiring. I have taken it upon myself to help out with this mod, mainly because I love system shock (it happens to be my favorite series of all time. This got me so excited that I started modeling the wrench right away. It’s only been about 15 mins of work so far but I will work more.
I’m just getting the basic shape down right now. Working on handle. Will come with an update soon.
I like where this thread is going.
Thank you so much Rossman, a guy who respects my idea and doesn’t take a dump upon it.
Nobody dumped on your idea, only said you should get some experience before trying to pull a team for it, otherwise you won’t attract anyone with worthwhile talent, nor will it survive.
To be fair, having Rossman on your team is a guarantee of great models, at least.
Of coarse man. Modding is something special to me, I’ve helped with other projects in the past as well.
Taking a break from the wrench for a minute, but I’ll show you a few things I’ve made in the past.
Holy crap you are good! I sent you a friend request on steam and a group invite for the mod. Is it possible if you could work on the human models or the V_hands model soon?
Rossman pls model my faec.
Okay
It’s beautiful. I’m crying tears of happiness.
I want you to get out of this thread!
Dem’s fighting words, son.
What do you know in modding? What can you do?
I’ve been working more with the facial head settings in Gmod with the Black Mesa heads. I’ve finished Taz Amanpour and Angela Loesser. I’m currently working on James Watts.

Don’t take this personally OP, please stop stealing these models that doesn’t belong to you. If you want the models, create your own instead using somebody else’s work.
They gave you a ton of advice and you repeatedly avoided detailing the skills you have. Instead of getting confrontational about it, try actually listening to what they have to say.
Edit: Naturally my browser decided to hide a few pages of stuff until AFTER I posted that, but my point still stands. Probably.
