The logo on the lobby floor of the main pedestrian entrance into the Black Mesa complex, now on the wall in the new version of the game. It translates thus: “Proud of the Way of Ignorance”. Sound kinda strange. Any theories as to why this was chosen? I think original dev team must have been poking fun of the whole incident, the circumstances it all came to be, and the follow up actions of the gov with the clean up team and all… Its cool Valve stuff as always tho!
Way to ignore the first post, CPU. He’s talking about Valve putting it there.
stormseeker appears to answer that question:
The original texture artist was Karen Laur. She worked for Valve January 1997 through March 1999.
Whoops, I misread that. The part about changing the wording made me think it was entirely about Black Mesa.
That’s ok.
I like that the Latin isn’t entirely accurate.
In Portal 2, Cave Johnson said, “Just a heads up, we’re gonna have a superconductor turned up full blast and pointed at you for the duration of this next test. I’ll be honest, we’re throwing science at the walls here to see what sticks. No idea what it’ll do.”
Black Mesa might be similar: They act like they know what they’re doing but…
