Steam Holiday Sale 2013

Thank you. And one more question, can I THEN intall it on another PC with my Steam accaunt after the giveaway or do I own this copy only on the one I am installing?

As long as it’s from your steam account, yes, you can install it on as many computers as you want.

Thanks!

I mean, storywise, do I need to play L4D1 to understand/appreciate L4D2?

L4D’s story isn’t really relevant to the gameplay. That said, it’s fun to follow and piece together, because Valve are genius storytellers. Just dive in and start playing campaigns. Strictly speaking, I think the proper order for the L4D1 campaigns in No Mercy, Crash Course, Dead Air, Death Toll, then Blood Harvest, then The Sacrifice. The L4D2 campaigns go Dead Center, The Passing, Dark Carnival, Swamp Fever, Hard Rain, The Parish, and then Cold Stream is officially supported but not really considered canon.

There are also comics out that fill in some of the gaps between the campaigns. If you’re adamant that you must have the story, then be sure to read the comic that comes between Blood Harvest and The Sacrifice, because it fills in a lot of blanks that might otherwise make first few conversations of The Sacrifice kind of confusing.

Also, now that L4D2 is up for free, I’m guessing that means that people are going to be playing it again for a while. Finding people to play with was getting to be slim pickings. And now I’ve got a mic for the first time… time to dive in.

L4D2 literally has L4D1 inside of it. The game has a collection of levels each with its own sort of self contained story (though I suppose the overall story is that the survivors move from one story to the next). I don’t think anyone bothers with the story in the game, they just play the levels to play them. But yeah, you can play through L4D1’s entire story with L4D2.

Still haven’t received an email with a code for Steam Guard, argh.

EDIT: Almost 14 hours waiting now…

EDIT2: Got the email, finally

Anyone want to trade snowglobe cards? I have extras of 2 and 10. I need 3, 4, 6, and 8.

So, I’m pretty sure you actually don’t need to install L4D2 to get it free. I just hit the button on the store, but didn’t download it, and it’s still in my library.

Downloaded, played Single player for 10 minutes, gave up cause it was so repetitive which made it very boring to me.

I’ve got a dupe of 6.

Great. Thanks for the info. I’ll check it out when I get some time.

The multiplayer is really the only reason to play the game. Going through with bots is pretty annoying.

I actually just traded for a 6.

I have extra snowglobes of #7, #6, #4, #2 and need #9 and #5.

Dark Souls for $6.00

Worth it? I remember the port being initially piss poor. Is it still that way?

It is but easily fixed with this https://blog.metaclassofnil.com/?tag=dsfix

Thanks

Hope you’ve got a gamepad available, or you’re gonna have a pretty bad time.

Ah, good, the Assassin’s Creed games up to III are 75% off.

Wish that Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood Deluxe Edition was priced normally instead of costing $79.99 before discounts (meanwhile the standard edition is $17.95 before discounts…).

I just got an extra #9. I’ll trade you it for your #4.
