OHMYGODOHMYGOD
Best news I’ve heard in a while
About time
Let’s hope it’s not Origin-exclusive.
Lol you think there is even a hope of that happening.
This better be good.
I’ll use origin ten times over if this game is fucking worth it. There’s a lot of eyes in your direction, Dice. Don’t slip.
I hate how it’s called just Star Wars Battlefront with no three. I hate when developers do that in general. Hopefully it’s good though.
I wonder if it’ll have any destruction
Also I want DICE to take Titan mode from 2142, and put it in this, seeing as how they don’t seem to be tackling a new future BF, it would probably fit SW pretty well.
Definitely. If I have to live in a world without 2143, it may as well be one with a Battlefront made by Dice.
Better have the classic third-firstperson toggle
but honestly a battlefield rerelease with star wars graphics would still be fun
Exactly. I could take it even if it was just a reskin because it would be the right reskin.
I want to stomp through buildings with an AT-AT
I’m intensely skeptical. The Battlefront series was spectacular back in the day and anything that doesn’t live up to the prequels will just leave a bad taste in my mouth.
If Battlefront 3 has regen health there’s a very good chance I won’t be buying it. The inevitable origin exclusivity and the very likely lack of mod tools are already huge blows. Battlefront was great, but not because of the concept, but because of the implementation. A SWBF that isn’t well made isn’t a SWBF at all and will not get my 60 dollars. Here’s to hoping EA doesn’t strangle my childhood.
im fully down with it just being battlefield with star wars shit. the star wars mod for 1942 was kind of a weird broken mess and it was the raddest shit ever
I don’t get why people are still fighting the ironsights + health regen mechanic in games, though. Limping aimlessly toward health droids from accumulated damage sure can be fun, though.
I wouldn’t care much either way, but if they did decide on health pickups I hope they’re thermoses of coke and mtn dew voltage like the were in the original
Health regen is bad because it removes lasting punishment for mistakes. Also it allows for ridiculous killstreaks a lot more easily. It also generally necessitates a smaller healthbar, so gameplay invariably becomes more CoD-style spaztic. In some games health regen is fine, but in a lot of others it is not.
Iron sights add immersion and make for important tactical considerations, but they dampen the style of games like SWBF (especially as they’d eliminate the possibility of third person) and restrict mobility.
Basically they’re good in some games, but they’re horrifically overused because the former casualizes games and shortens development time and the latter appeals to realism fags.
Regenerating health isn’t really needed. You could just as easily put portable health packs in the game (in star wars case, bacta tanks), whether in everybody’s inventory, or on a medic, and the former especially would be pretty similar in effect to regenerating health except your health would actually matter.
If I get the drop on an enemy and he manages to barely take cover after being shot, I should be at an advantage for wounding him

I liked how they did the health in battlefield, where it regenerated, but it was desperately slow. I also really like the health system in Riddick, where small injuries regenerated but any significant damage needed medical aid. I agree Starwars shouldn’t have ironsights in the very strictest sense, but an “aim mode” that gives a bit of zoom and an accuracy buff wouldn’t be a problem. I only played a little bit of Battlefront 2, and I gotta say, I’m pretty excited for this.
^SWBF did have the aim mode that you’re talking about, so that seems likely enough.
I’d also agree that slowly regenerating health would be the best route. Make healing items and health droids useful, but don’t make it so you have to run around half the map looking for them.
