STALKER Call of Pripyat

This is a thread for STALKER fans to post news on the upcoming game from GSC, STALKER Call of Pripyat. I’ve been a big STALKER fan for the past few years since S:SHOC came out, and after finishing both STALKER games many times and playing them with mods, I cant wait for a new one. Here are some screenshots:

Get out of here, Stalker.

I hope required specs will be lower.

Don’t count on it. It’s gotten a graphical overhaul. I just hope they actually optimized the engine decently this time around, SHoC needed a lot more power than the box said.

Its running on the new XRAY 1.6 engine, lets hope its not as buggy as Clear Sky’s XRAY 1.5 engine.

Or X-Ray 1.0, for that matter.

Nevertheless, it’ll still be extremely fun, but it requires a fairly high-end computer.

It should run fine on two 4890s.

Looks a lot better then the other ones.

Will be unplayable for a good while, then fixed. Then it’s going to be the same STALKER we love but maybe some little changes and maybe more exploration.

Oh and HARDCORE FUCKING MEDKITS

hopefully they implemented a proper facial animation system

Yeah, I hate it when they just move their mouth randomly when talking. Another they need to fix is the rain texture. If you ran S:CS in dx10/10.1 mode with wet sufaces on, there would be lines going down buildings instead of water.

Meh, first Stalker didn’t really interest me long enough to be interested in 2 more games :{

I am planning to buy the first one soon, should be a decent buy.

Might help that I am obsessed with radiation.

After seeing some Gameplay footage, and a review on Gamespot, I really want to play the STALKER games.
But… from what I’ve heard, they’re REALLY fucking hard, or over realistic.
Let’s say I love Fallout 3 but wanted to play it as if it were, say, an open world and less boring version of Call of Duty 4 (I like the single player.) Is this the game for me?

They’re far from being hard if you play them in Medium (Stalker). Sure there’s bleeding but if you don’t go Rambo and bring in a couple of medkits and bandages you’re okay.

Bloodsucker+Night+Very Hard= Getting the shit scared out of you, followed by death.

They’re not overly realistic at all. They’re fun as hell. Just be wary if you do, a guy with a pistol is just as likely to kill you as a guy with an rpg. Like Imonfire said, don’t go Rambo on massive groups of people, you always want to try to pick off people from a distance.

Is it free roam friendly? Like, can I go exploring without getting my ass handed to me every 5 seconds?
If so, then STALKER is defiantly next on my “to buy” list. Well, after I beat Deus Ex… and God of War… and get enough money to afford Halo 3: ODST, Brutal Legend, and Left 4 Dead 2 and somehow fit the STALKER games in my budget for the next few months.
And the next one comes out this Fall? Damn. This is how you develope a game! If only 3DRealms learned the developer’s secret to making great games in a hurry.

GSC is pretty good at getting their games out quick.

What the hell are you talking about? Shadow of Chernobyl was in development for seven years!

As for JohnKiller, yes. You can walk around all you want, however, it’s not like… say, Grand Theft Auto, or Far Cry 2, where it’s all one HUGE map. It’s a… say 30 square km. area, and it’s separated into different maps. But the game actually encourages exploring, as you can find EXTREMELY good weapons and armor types by exploring.
