Sprint?

…Tamiflu administered…

Shitpost. Administered. Have. A. Very. Safe. Day.

Will it still play the suit_sprint sound from HL2?

fix’d

Aww. That probably means you can’t sprint without the suit either. :[

I hate that pointless sprinting sound. Was it in HL1 as well? Is it possible to disable it?

No, HL1 did not have sprinting. It had walking … cause, you know … going slow is awesome. So awesome I believe that you had infinite energy to walk slowly, without sapping your flashlight battery.

HL’s “slow” walking speed is about the same as HL2’s sprinting speed.

Gotta find a way to jam my “Shift” key then. Suggestions anyone? I guess “CapsLock” won’t do, will it… :stuck_out_tongue:

Personally, I use mouse right click for sprinting. I use my 5th mouse button (right thumb) for alt. fire.

Works very well IMO.

Pics of mouse?

Logitech MX1000 laser. It has 8 buttons total. The 5 important buttons generally work in all games.

Hey, that’s my mouse, too! The thing is easily 10 years old, and still in tip top shape. Mind if I steal your key mapping (is that the right term?) idea?

[Edit:] Actually, now that I think of it, the only problem I’ve got with it, is recharging it is a bit of a hassle, getting the fussy connectors lined up in the docking station. Do you find you’ve got the same problem, ever?

Use this script:

alias +sprint "+speed; unbind mouse1" alias -sprint "-speed; bind mouse1 +attack" bind shift +sprint

Or this script (altough untested):

alias +sprint "+speed; bind w +forward2; bind s +back2; bind a +moveleft2; bind d +moveright2"
alias -sprint "-speed; bind w +forward; bind s +back; bind a +moveleft; bind d +moveright"
alias +forward2 "+forward; unbind mouse1; unbind mouse2"
alias -forward2 "-forward; bind mouse1 +attack; bind mouse2 +attack2"
alias +back2 "+back; unbind mouse1; unbind mouse2"
alias -back2 "-back; bind mouse1 +attack; bind mouse2 +attack2"
alias +moveleft2 "+moveleft; unbind mouse1; unbind mouse2"
alias -moveleft2 "-moveleft; bind mouse1 +attack; bind mouse2 +attack2"
alias +moveright2 "+moveright; unbind mouse1; unbind mouse2"
alias -moveright2 "-moveright; bind mouse1 +attack; bind mouse2 +attack2"
bind shift +sprint

Yea it is an old mouse. I have no problems with the contacts. The only problem I do have is that it slowly loses battery capacity with each charge. Still going strong tho!

HL2 mapping:
Left click - primary attack
right click - sprint
mouse button 3 - gravity gun
mouse button 4 - alt. fire
mouse button 5 - jump

I use my mouse in combination with:

I obviously custom map the keys for different games. For instance I never use the jump key for jumping. Its generally a night vision or flashlight key.

No, not a far out idea, that solution is perfectly acceptable and appreciated. Thanks.

Ignoring the whole topic: hold down the shift key.

Lol.

more like alt key

I hate the alt key. I always end up pressing the windows key by accident and fucking up the game.
