Cant see them including this stuff anywhere other than in free to play, or subscription based games that also have a free to play element… The amount of bad PR a move to include this into the traditional AAA model would create would destroy any chance of success that game had of making any money… Surely they would understand that
I could see advertisements being played during loading screens…sadly.
They already did that with Deus Ex HR.

I haven’t played it but apparently they put ads on the loading screens. They weren’t like commercials, they were just little things in the corner of the loading screens.
Hey, people are used to adverts mid TV program. Other big companies such as Youtube (Yes, Google :|), are phasing in advertisements to content on the internet, we never used to have that. But yes, Sony has gone too far.
Wipeout had car commercials in the loading screens.

I’m fine with it as long as it’s like the iAd format for iOS where you get one game in 2 versions: a free one with ads and a paid one without ads.
or like the ads on games in Android, turn off Data and Wifi (which you should do anyway to save battery life) and boom, no more ads.
Good thing I decided to quit console gaming entirely after playstation 2’s life cycle ended.
Never bothered with what I considered from day one to be a shitty generation of consoles.
I thought that ps3 and 360 are shit from day one of their release and funnily, I still think that today.
Not even 7 or 8 years of their games managed to change my mind.
I sure as hell don’t intend to buy consoles when ps4 and the new xbox come out, all I have to say is fuck them to hell even more than ps3 and 360!
Pc gaming is the only acceptable way for me.
Today’s consoles are for those that want to play all games with gamepads and be graphically limited by hardware that rapidly becomes outdated and can’t be upgraded + have to pay shitty subscriptions for all kinds of basic features that should come free…
If consoles are like dugs and people get addicted to them, it’s only fair that microsoft and sony take advantage of their addiction and make them buy more shit from them.
I would be so glad if this patent would get implemented in ps4 so that playstation fans would get raped in all of their holes with ads.
Maybe if they get screwed around enough, they too will realize that consoles should get the fuck out of their lives and they should start moving to pc gaming.

They were added in an update. They were relatively small and unobtrusive IMO, and of course they were only shown on loading screens.
That’s a tad different than telling you the game is gonna get paused and playing a commercial.
