Socialized Healthcare

nice point Master Chef, but that is just the last couple years. What about before?

Also maybe it was a bit insensitive to use the word “lazy”, but you have to agree there are some slackers out there regardless of what the economy is.

Also if people don’t earn enough to afford health insurance, maybe the biggest problem is education. Most minimum wage jobs don’t pay enough for health insurance and you don’t need much education to do those.

I have to admit I’m in this stinker myself. I did get some education but it’s far from enough to get a decent job that I want. So I either have to get a lousy job just to pay off the school or get back in school (and get even more in debt). For most intelligent people it’s easy to know what to do here but I’m kinda lost.

It’s been in the shithole for a while.

Vietnam Vet…

I think you should spend a couple of days hanging around a VA facility…

It could change you’re opinion.

I’ve been in the system for several years (and yes I have private doctor)

I really don’t think you would want the kind of medical expertise they offer.

REMEMBER! You get what you pay for…

I’m done, thanks for reading, and Please don’t ban me Robin…Raw Bean

thanx…

Was that before or after the year 2000?

(By the way, nice sig. “Oh, I will let you be on your way, and when you go THE CAT’S EYES WILL SPIN! NOW LISTEN! …Hey, hey, ha! Ho ha! Heh heh heh heh! A hula hula hula! The boola boola boola! Look who’s got the front seats to the Mexican hat dance now!”)

SOCIALISED MEDICINE IS THE FIRST STEP TOWARDS COMMUNISM!

Look at my country, we’re as communist as it gets!

I’m totally late to the party on this thread, but all this anti-socialist argument against free health care makes me think of is “when are you guys gonna start pushing for privatised law enforcement and fire service then? Why should a doctor treat a sick person who can’t pay them? Well, why should the police investigate your broken into home or the fire brigade put out your blazing property if you don’t pay them, either? Face it, you already have socialised services in the US, guaranteeing a basic human right to medical attention is not going to be the one step that sends you over the precipice to a communist state.”

The response to the above, as well as your response to my response to the above, can be found several pages back.

awesome flic…

me…1969

All I want to say is… You’re right on the point about privatised law enforcement…

Please forgive me for bringing this up, (The past is the past) But wasn’t it privatised enforcement that seperated us at the begining?

I’m way over my head here…

I think I’ll be quiet for awhile…

I think a lot of the anti socialised medicine sentiment comes from the anti-communist propaganda of the Cold War. Because of this a lot of Western nations are opposed to communism, even though it is as perfectly viable as capitalism, feudalism or even dictatorships. Capitalism is not the greatest form of government, even if the USA happens to use that system. That’s like saying red is the fastest colour because you see a lot of red cars win races.

It doesn’t matter much to me anyway, I still think Machine Rule is the best form of government.

I’d prefer a more benevolent dictator, like Helios.

Anarchy bitches! Fuck the government!

^ Fuck tha police comin’ straight out the underground!

I bet you danced a little dance of joy at the prospect of using that little catchphrase again there, didn’t you? Own up!

My computer’s name is Skynet. But I don’t remember whether I based that off Earthsiege the computer game or Terminator 2. Which one of those is older, anyway?

Well, the first Terminator would be older than Terminator 2. And they both (1984, 1991) were released before Earthsiege (1994).
