So Dear Esther is Porting...

Double Post

I think it was 10 Beta1
I got it from here:
Working link

The bridge wasn’t nearly as retarded looking as the intact unobtanium plane that powered through the cliffside without telescoping into tinfoil.

In fakefactory I mean.

oh, yes.

The FF I got had no soundtrack, original models, and the only thing drastically changed besides graphics was the nighttime after Ravenholm.

Light edition?

kaddo how did you get the deep walls in those esther screenshots? can you just enable tessellation and it does it to all textures, or is it a extra texture pack, or what?

I don’t get your question or is it sarcastic or what?
Deep walls don’t require tesselsation. Source doesn’t support tessellation.
Oh now I get it. It’s not a texture it’s just fog.
Here is the orginal image: https://www.pcgameshardware.de/aid,684323/Half-Life-2-vs-Cinematic-Mod-10-Optik-im-Vergleich-Update-Duesterlook-reloaded/Action-Spiel/Test/

What’s with all the fog in the cinematic mod?

What’s with the complaints against it?

I mean it doesn’t really apply to all parts of HL2, but when buildings are destroyed and firearms are going off, dust and shit tends to accumulate in the air. Plus it’s used as a dramatic effect to separate elements of the foreground from the background. Not to be the only one ugh DEFENDING this fucking thing, but it seems people aren’t spending enough time tearing apart everything he did wrong, and decided to tear apart everything he did… okay.

In fact, why are people spending any time doing either? This thread was about the Portal 2 engine… and how BM won’t be ported to it…

… Why does this thread here?

I never really understood why people bash FF so much.
Some people are just pricks.

Cinematic Mod gave me a reason to play through the Half-Life saga again.
So yea, I’d say it did it’s job.

not whid dem model replacements.

No because it was in the files, it just never worked, even before I deleted them out. I dunno, I uninstalled CM10 a couple days ago, Filip Victor’s mod is pretty cool.

I have to say, while it wasn’t the sound track that was made for it, he definitely made some good cinematic improvements using the soundtrack alone. By far, that was the best part of the whole thing.

Another amazing thing, before it was fixed to work properly, I ported Minerva’s maps and music into FFCM for a replay, and loaded them up via ~, and after the initial few failed attempts, got it working. HOLY SHIT. Somehow, I don’t pretend to know how, there must have been some left over calls to Half-Life music that were overwrote in FF or something, but some of the FFCM music started playing at times during the mod that there hadn’t been music before. It was amazing.

James created a custom shader that allows that same effect in the orange box engine. I’m willing to bet it will be in BM.

Edit: Ignore this post. It was directed toward a post on the first page.

I thought the cinematic mod was pretty good almost all-around. The only problems I had with it, besides that fact it takes forever to download, would be the problems that most seem to have with it: slutty models.

I know I don’t have to use the model replacement, but having low-poly models in a high-texture environment makes people look really out of place.

I am playing through HL2 with the CM10 at the moment. I’m just finishing up the coast road section. So far, I’m loving the additions such as the crashed plane…and I’m using the updated models. So far, it’s a decent playthrough…I just wish that they’d fix some of the female models. Some of them are…disturbing.

Do you guys have some sort of automatic recorded message that plays up when you read a certain thing and then the message releases itself automaticly?
I’ve heard the same comments and arguments about Cinematic mod almost a hundred times now.

wat

It’s self explanatory.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
