Small wonder Diablo 3 sucks.

…Seriously? I beat diablo 2 when I was a kid and had no knowledge of builds or anything. A shit build works perfectly fine until you get off of normal difficulty.

That’s kind of my point. Ok yeah, not as bad as making it unplayable, but you actually had to look up a build if you wanted to play the rest 2 fucking thirds of the game. A shame, considering Nightmare in D2 is very sweet.

Wait wait wait
Look up a build? As long as you followed common sense and roughly specialized in something - nightmare wasn’t that much harder than normal. It didn’t take Einstein to estimate what skills within your chosen tree (and what auxiliaries) would serve you best.
If you weren’t obsessed with creating an uber top PvE lawnmower #1 - everything was fine.

Problems started to arise in hell with immunes - but I’m sorry, hell was made for co-op play, despite existance of builds that can solo hell easily.

P.S. And it is small wonder no one wanted a sub-perfect build, what with duped Zods and bots.

It’s companies like Blizzard that make me fearful for the future of gaming.

I can’t put into words how much my old friends and I used to worship everything that Blizzard blessed us with. We would literally sit at a LAN party for hours and hours -just the four of us- arguing about who was spending too much resources on Carriers in Starcraft; we would make fun of our one guy’s who couldn’t get passed an Unraveler in Diablo 2; we would shit our pants when our best player would get an army of Death-knights and spawn 10 tornadoes on our bases in Warcraft 2…

I can’t believe what has happened to that company. The last time I remember actually still worshiping them as a game company was when I first finished Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne – amazing game. I even remember drooling over the first Starcraft: Ghost trailer that hit the floor…

Safe to say that was cancelled; Starcraft 2 was boring and borrowed too much design from WoW; Diablo 3 is a complete joke, I mean really; World of Warcraft doesn’t even feel like Warcraft anymore; and any future projects by them are going to inevitably suck… this is truly a dark time in the world. Even my favorite escapist activity is suffering from the world’s greed.

It’s those days in the past when gaming was golden that places me in forums like this; a remake of a classic that I also adored in my prime.

Them feels… :frowning:

Hmm, to be fair though, the last time I made a custom build was a real long time ago. Maybe I’ll give it a go sometime.

And yes, Hell was pretty much coop mode. Those zombies took fucking forever to kill.

Diablo 2 is pretty much the only game I’ve LAN’d along with Counter-Strike.

Well, I’m pretty sure many will follow the DRM example of Diablo 3, because apparently it can’t be pirated. Kind of annoying really. I just got off from playing Diablo 3 because it disconected out of the blue (yes, I play Diablo 3 sometimes; yes, it isn’t really all that good). The always online DRM, the apparent doctrine of “better graphics means better games” and homogenization of games for “casual” players will probably lead to a rather somber future for videogames, at least the mainstream AAA ones.

What killed DIII for me was the lack of the paladin. Best character in DII

If it was back in 1.09 then I understand… 1.13C is vastly different, as ODB pointed out there’s A LOT of botting spam bots (don’t play public games, trust me, you’ll regret it if you do) and hacking now’a’days as it’s obviously been pointed out.

Basically, if you really want to build a character, there’s a few invaluable resources

I PvP’d A LOT on multiplayer in my twilight years of Diablo II, I know the systems in and out, and a few exploits of my own on the game that went to the grave with me when I said fuck it.

The stats are not that hard, get a bunch of charms to boot your stats like dexterity and strength then focus fully on Vitality, unless you’re going for a energy shield Sorceress, in addition to that, you can re-roll your stats with the token of absolution, do some research.

Edit: Also, this will help plenty with figuring out what build you want what it lacks is my build for my PvP summoner… most people don’t know that and it’s a unique build.

Google is also a good tool for builds if you decide to dust off your CDKey.

end nerd out

Necromancer > Paladin.

– in all seriousness, you’re likely to get a few expansions with the original Diablo II characters returning.

You didn’t need builds per se to have fun.
And if there was no bots and dupes - there would be more incentive to try more stuff besides tal-rasha’s wrappings and BoTD.
There’s no fooling anyone - all of these builds you find on the internet are built (no pun intended) around top gear (again!), which wasn’t intended to be accessible on ladder.

^

Valid points ODB, but my point rests. I was a serious d2 nerd before I decided to lay it down for good. lol

Additionally, there are always replacements for different things found on Non-ladder, though they’re impossible to gain unless you do YEARS in some cases of hunting, or are just really lucky the MF system inside of that game was never very forgiving…

Something tells me Jay Wilson didn’t actually write this.

Haha PR went ‘a little bit’ overboard with damage limitation.

Also look at the lemming fanboys doing the ass licking.

You should only be allowed as many words in the apology letter as were in the thing you’re apologizing for.

Honestly, please tell me these were written by employees. How can one be such a butt licking moron is inconceivable.

Tools, man. More of them than you might think.

Perfect specimen of d3 target demographic.

After reading the comment from that page I have to think that forum mods have deleted alot of posts.
All the ass licking is getting funny lol.

lololol

Quick, somebody unban stides!

Blizzard killed cain and made tyrael a flaming nigger. Enough is told.

I was pretty dissapointed at Cain’s death to be honest. A character that has been in the series since the beginning shouldn’t be sent off in some crappy in game cutscene by a fairy witch character that no one gives a shit about.
