Yeah, really. I haven’t had it glitch. EVER. Except for one thing that ALWAYS happens unless you don’t move: when the grunts knock you out in that room, It would show me the cutscene, but when they go to throw me in the trash compactor, it ALWAYS would take me to the hallway they just showed them walking through, stuck in the wall or something, looking down. But anyway, as long as you don’t move when this happens, you’ll be allright. :retard:

I bought HL2 in '05 because a friend of mine who built flight simulators for boeing said he was REALLY impressed with the game engine and how realistic the physics details were. All though irked that I had to install steam to play, it was the best game ever! A year later, I got a new computer, logged into my stale steam account and there it all was. I Played HL2 again and discovered blackmesasource.com and because of that, purchased the originals on steam. They were so awesome, even considering they came from last century. I have been following this mod for years because of the original game. Play it, you will love it.

Even if you don’t get it off steam you should be able to find a copy at any good used video game store. I bought my copy in a pawn shop for $10. Really there is no reason for you NOT to play HL1. Keep in mind however that it will impact how you play games in the future. For instance I don’t go into the water in any game without a crossbow. Ever. You know the part in HL2 when you escape from the room full of manhacks and you have to turn on the water to swim to the other side? Yeah, took me almost a half hour to actually ENTER the water.
Actually, now that I think about it I do that in real life too.

First of all, why didn’t you play all this time Half-Life 1 ?
I really recommend you to play Half-Life because it will be very cool to compare Half-Life 1 to Black Mesa

Yeah, I would say play HL first. Maybe even go extreme and play the original one, NOT Half-Life: Source, without the High Definition Pack. That’s what I’m doing to kill some time as I wait for the mod. I’m sure the differences will be mind-blowing.
