Shepard's role in the next installments.

Personally, I think Shepard should return in half-life 3 or episode 3 ( whatever you want to call it)

I don’t think I could conjure up a viable reason for Shepard joining Gordon but I think that it would be good to flesh out Shepard’s personality and story. I genuinely think Valve could create a good character out of him.

but that is just my opinion. how do you think Shepard should fit in? do you think he should be part of Gordon’s story at all? Discuss

He will appear and the ending will suck

i typed out a 3 paragraph response before realizing you ment adrian shepard and not commander shepard from mass effect.

and i suddenly feel like i dont deserve to live.

Gabe Newell discussed possibility of Shepard’s returning few days ago.

I assume he will not be in Episode 3, but he may be in later installments.

Yes, I’ve seen this thread so many times. I’m a fan of Op4 and Shephard but still sick of this thread.

This guy knows what’s going on.

There will be no shep. not now or ever

What is this Episode 3 of which you speak?

I think they need to kill him off so I never need to hear this shit again.

I never really understood the love for Shephard as a character. What character!? He’s a mute protagonist who’s primary role is to hold a gun a few inches from his face. I guess his fans just really like fingerless gloves…

Well, ultimately the same could be said of Gordon Freeman. He never says anything either. I’m guessing the idea would be to bring him back as more than just a generic character, much like Barney’s inclusion in HL2/Ep1. (I mean Barney Calhoun. He was mute in Blue Shift.)

But shep didn’t even have a fucking face.

I guess people are into him because of his cliffhanger.

I think it’s because fans like to think of him as the alter ego of Gordon Freeman. One’s a mute scientist trying to get out of Black Mesa and is an enemy of the military. And one is a mute solider who is trying to get out of Black Mesa and is a friend of the military. I guarantee if Blue Shift had come first and the game was more fleshed out than it was, people would be going crazy of Barney too.

Still will be better than ME3 ending… lost my faith in games with that ending

Having Adrian Shepard in the next installment would be fucking stupid.

It’s like they don’t realize that in order to have Shepard as an NPC, they would have to invent a personality for him in the first place, which would most likely clash against each and everyone’s idea of Shepard’s personality.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they have Adrian playable in either a 7 hour war scenario, or in something where Gordon is either in stasis or dead. I agree that he wouldn’t work well as an NPC.

Half Life has never been a game to jump to past and present; it’s more of a convergent experience.

But since we’re all throwing in stupid ideas:

It would be interesting to have a Half Life game in the light of Day of Defeat, where you pick between weapon arrangements for Combine Soldiers and Rebels. Maybe with a Campaign surrounding the Seven Hours War (Can’t have the multiplayer in that era because there really aren’t any playable characters for Combine.) Perhaps in multiplayer you could call upon a Strider (Combine) or (Dog) when you get enough points – something to that effect. Whatever, it’s stupid.

ignorance of reality is a hallmark of shepfaggery
