Im now regreting buying my two 4890s cause theses cards are coming out.
You have no idea.
Wait until you see the results.
Socks will be blown away.
Initial benchmark results are placing the 5870 just behind the 295. It beats it in some cases.
If there’s a price cut on other GPUs the week after my computer is ordered, I’m gonna choke a bitch.
The 5870 is effectively doubling the performance of the 4870, more than in some cases. They have also made changes that improve image quality. It’s subtle, but it’s a neat little feature. There is listings showing up on newegg…Looks like about 100 bucks more than 4890…give or take.
Jesus christ, i just read a review after getting home and the results are insane, im so glad i waited… and just think… most of the tests were in dx10… what happens when you rev it up to dx11 xD xD
Its sold out on newegg.
NCIX says they have some.
Im willing to bet ati are gonna pwn with the HD 5850, they’ll probably go for performance just above the 4890, but with a lower price then the 5870, futureproof of DX11, and the performance boost that will come with that if game devolpers start using it.
Also of course, because of the price, you can always add another 5850 down the line =]
There is word that the 5700 series of cards are going to outrun anything in the 4800 series. So that might mean a very fast 5770.
I am so jacking a 5870 from best buy.:terror:
ITT sersoft disappears for a few months + community service.
He’s Sersoft. He never gets caught. And if he does he’ll just use scripts and old pc parts to make his way out.
lol
Hehe, first group of parts arrived today. All I need now is my case, my processor, my 4890, my hard drive and my mobo.
…Wait
U didn’t order all at once?
Order everything from the same store, you mean?
That’d be madness! You’d be missing out on all the good discounts.
Everything came from Newegg, but they shipped my light stuff (DVD reader, OS, Mobo) in one shipment, and they shipped my heavier stuff (CPU, GPU, HDD, PSU, etc.) in another. They came only a day apart so it isn’t that bad.
EDIT: I was wondering if someone could help me with a problem I’ve been having with my new MSI R4890. I have everything plugged in, I can get video through it, and it’s fan is running, but it seems like the computer won’t recognize it. I installed ATI’s drivers and everything, but I still have a 1.0 in the graphics category in the Windows Vista test thing.
You don’t happen to only have to 6 pin PCIexpress power connectors to it?
ATI have really owned with the 5850, i’ve just been reading a few benchmarks and it seems like it averages 30fps+ more then the 4890, and coupled with the futureproofing thing, i don’t think i can pass on getting it
