In HL1 the crossbow shoots poison darts or something in that direction, not “redhot pieces of rebar”.

Yeah, I know HL2 have that kind of crossbow, I think I misinterpreted Doedel’s post. My interpretation was that he was worried that BM will have a crossbow with hot metal bars. I guess that is just bad English or bad text interpretation or something :retard:

IMO, the crossbow was introduced into HL and the black mesa facility of because the Ichy and its underwater environment. Perhaps it was being studied and an efficient method of killing it was being researched (I am really interested in seeing how the crossbow is first introduced in BM, I thought the scenario with bow in the cage above the pool was strange). I imagine that poison arrows or spears provide better penetration and do more damage underwater than a bullet. A speargun may have been better with regards to the Ichy specifically, but a crossbow is more versatile for the rest of the game. Besides, its a silent and every effective sniper weapon and fits the HL style perfectly.
I do have other opinions regarding the HL2 crossbow however, but I won’t go into that.

If you want less gore, there will be an option to disable it, IIRC from what Grey Acumen said in your thread. In my opinion, in the case of this specific Half-Life 2 Modification, it seems very silly for you to request non-lethal weapons/attacks.

There won’t be melee attacks added to any of the weapons, and there’s no reason to add any, especially ones that are non-lethal.
if you’re gonna give ranged weapons a nonlethal melee attack… then the crowbar will need a variety of ranged DEADLY attacks to compensate. :hmph:
The only weapons that need the secondary function are the mp5, shotgun, crossbow, rpg, and tau cannon.
The other weapons do not require alternate functions because they are unnecessary.
Grenades? (Throw / Roll)
Hivehand? (Slow trackers / Fast burst)
Satchels? (Throw + Detonate / Throw additional)
Wouldn’t call those unnecessary.
The shotgun doesn’t NEED a double blast anyway.

Yet again more uneducated players fail to realise how underpowered the HL1 shotgun is.
Most people don’t complain about them so I purposely neglected to include those, I guess I should have mentioned that.
I do agree however, those secondary functions are good.
With regards to combat I agree, a double blast is not necessary. I feel it should be in BM however, because it was included in the original HL.
