Secondary functions for weapons

I have read that some of the weapons have been stripped of second functionality, like the Glock for instance.

I just came on the forums so I haven’t seen these types of posts but I was wondering if you could add some of these secondary functions for the weapons.

The crow bar can gave a hard swing using when pressing the secondary trigger.

  • Pros: Powerful
  • Cons: Has a slow recovery time, I guess recoil?
Yes it’s lightweight but think about it. Swing a ruler right now, lightly and hardly. Which one hurts more?

I was wondering if the zoom in feature will be available for the .357 Magnum. I just edited the wiki and added that it was an original feature in the trivia section. I wasn’t sure if you the team has stripped it and has already made it final which was why I didn’t add it in the secondary function. Yes guys, it is in Half life source. Try it now. Magnum zoom rules. It is not just in the Deathmatch but also in singleplayer.

The pistol or glock, … Gun straightening and centering.

As seen in this vid.
Maybe the magnum can have this? Also the SMG but freaking grenade thing has taken it. -_-

What happens if a post is red. Does that mean it sucks?

Holy (crap i never knew that.)
I gotta try that out.
This better be real.

Crap I fell for it.

Suggestion has been made long ago, and it just isn’t going to happen. It would seem kinda weird if you could swing harder using the secondary fire in Black Mesa, but then when you get to HL2, you suddenly can’t. Part of the goal of Black Mesa is to fit as much as possible with HL2, so if it doesn’t show up anywhere in HL1 or HL2 or the episodes, it’s almost certainly not going to happen in Black Mesa.

Also, the Magnum zoom was only in Multiplayer, it was never in Single Player.

I am playing Hl Source now and the Magnum zoom is happening. Do you want me to make a youtube vid right now to prove you!!!

Trust me, a hard swing will totally work. Would you tap lightly if you were to hit a big object or soldier or hit hard.

If i were close to a soldier I would smack his HECU ID to Jupiter. :rage:

Magnum zoom was only in multiplayer. I think I heard that this zoom will be included in BM multi.

Also, the crowbar is not a pipe wrench, therefore it can’t be swung hard.

I am playing HL1 source and magnum zoom is real! Do i have to make a vid on youtube to explain!???

I played HL1 source too.

No magzoom… unless Valve did a ninja update within the last few months. :fffuuu:

Edit: Nope, no magzoom in HL: Source. I played just now to make sure. Maybe you’re playing a mod?

I think the wapons are good as they are.

That’s the point, GF already swings the crowbar as hard as he can when you attack normally, so there’s no point in trying to add a secondary attack to make him swing harder.

In SMOD you can kick people in slow motion while firing a rocket launcher that shoots unlimited bananas or a psp that shoots UMD discs…

if you want more weapon functions go play SMOD, this is BM.

357 zooms in both SP and MP.
Honestly, removing the zoom in SP was silly in original game.

The crowbar will only function with a primary attack that behaves like the hl2 crowbar.
If you want to the crowbar to do more damage then use the console variable to increase the damage.

The crowbar is designed to be useful for killing melee only monsters and crack open crates to preserve ammo.
If you decide to go full Rambo on an human grunt or alien creature whom has an potentially lethal range weapon then your more than likely going to die.
Adding an more powerful secondary attack would only benefit from killing melee creatures faster; which removes the challenge we have in place for the beginning chapters.

edit: Oh, and if your out of ammo. Well its your fault for wasting it, or you did not look around enough. ( There is enough ammo in place where you shouldn’t need to use the crowbar to take out a full squad of marines )

I never understood the magnum zoom. There’s no scope on the damn thing and laser pointers don’t zoom!

Just curious… why no automatic mode for the Glock?

I think in the trailer gameplay footage the glock is in auto mode. (alt fire)

Because the Glock is a semiautomatic weapon? The gun will fire as fast as you can click the mouse button; a secondary mode that makes it fire faster is kind of pointless.

^ I think he meant as it was in the original Half-Life, where you could hold the second mouse button and it would fire quickly but much less accurately. They’ve removed that in BM as far as I know because it was indeed pretty pointless.

ಠ_ಠ when an aslave jumps in outta nowhere, that’s a good tactic. Also fun for raping bullsquids. Glock /=/ USP

This could be changed quite easily if, once everything was done, released an SDK and one final ka-boom, but that shit ain’t happenin’ :’(

They stated that they removed the secondary fire from the glock because of balance issues (that I can assume they gathered from play testing). The alt-fire of the glock renders the mp5 useless.

^This. JK’s post.
