Secondary functions for weapons

About the Magnum zoom- Does this mean it’s going to have a crappy, nonsensical scope on the bottom, or the top?

Gordon uses his magical binocular glasses obviously.

He just looks harder.

Their friends do. :3

He makes an O with his fingers and looks through it.

Yes, but last I can recall, the first appearance of the .357 was after burning the tentacles, the crossbow actually came later. So you get what is theoretically (at least with zoom capabilities, even if limited) the better weapon first.

Now this part I haven’t considered. Are you saying that the tranquilizer effect of the dart is going to figure more prominently on the amount of damage it deals? If so, is the tranquilizer going to be more effective on Xen or Human targets, or just Organics in general? Also is it’s most effective target going to take more damage than taking a .357? I’m assuming the darts will be less effective against Tanks and Helicopters, but it’s not like I ever really felt the need to try to shoot them down with the Crossbow or .357 anyway anyway.

Honestly, there’s going to have to be some majorly noticeable difference for the crossbow to come out even. I didn’t even HAVE the zoom in HL1 but I still tended to use it just as effectively or more so than I did the crossbow.

I generally only used the .357 or crossbow on enemies that were both far away AND powerful enough to make things rough if I didn’t take them down in 2 shots. So Agrunts, Icthyosaurs, and Controllers. The Agrunts I’d usually shotgun if they were in range, and the Icthyosaurs and Controllers I would just stay out of their way and whittle them down with the Hivehand once I got it. I can’t recall ever running out of .357 or Crossbow ammo.

Maybe squints a little.

Dead men don’t have friends, only witnesses.

Okay yeah that didn’t work as well as I thought it would.

I’ll admit, it would be a nice feature if enemies reacted to gunshots and went on alert, but wouldn’t react to the crossbow being fired.(except the one that got shot, providing that he survived at all) That would definitely be a plus in the crossbow’s favor.

The best secondary function for the crowbar would be a FULL SWING THAT WILL HIT MULTIPLE ENEMIES like L4D2. But swinging again would take some more time.

But it still has the infrared telescopic vision, right? Right? :freeman:

Replaced with xray vision so you can see some naughty parts.

Except this is not l4d…

If you want to apply an gameplay aspect from another games to BM, then at least provide an better analysis other than “HEY THIS GAME DOES IT, SO BM SHOULD TOO.”
Otherwise I’d just flat out say no.

Agreed, I haven’t played L4D2, but you never really face hordes of zombies in HL. Could be useful against multiple headcrabs, but they tend to scatter. Besides, he swings that crowbar so fucking fast to begin with.

IMO the best update for the crowbar would be making it two handed and adjust the model/animations and damage. Of course I am not suggesting this, I want the mod to come out as bug free and soon as possible. I’m sure the devs want this to be over with as well.

So in BM, theres no alt. fire for the glock, but you can fire it as quickly as you can click? Also, the alt. fire for the .357 is a “focal” zoom?

What exactly was the reasoning behind giving a zoom to the .357?

For zoomin’ and shit.

I move to suspend the rules of order and accept by acclamation.

Well, as far as i know, in HL2, combine became alert if bullets landed near them or one of their friends go down next to them. And since we’re going to use the Source engine using HL2…

The stress of my point was not on the enemies reacting to the bullets and their allies getting shot, but to them being able to track you down from the sound of your gunshots, and NOT being able to track you when you use your crossbow.

mmm, if codeable, i say 1 bullet, if it’s long range (i mean long), they’ll be alert but they won’t know where it is unless you fire again, THEN they’ll track you.

Why? THe crossbow is meant to be a silent killer.

Also if your fast enough you can aim and fire your second shot before the first bolt even hits the target.

Then how will most players even know that the gun can zoom?

I dont think people will have issues, as long as they arent the type who drool all over themselves.
