Sad tiem):

Not in comparison with an animal.
I am not a dumb creationist if you think that.

I was making a joke. The point is, humans have to eat. And humans are omnivores. And plants are quite complex as well.

Nature, it sucks.

Not sure about you, but I buy what I need and the only thing I throw in the garbage, is empty packaging.

Meat on its own doesn’t make fat, unhealthy diet makes people fat. People can get fat from eating too much oranges as well. All you need to do is make sure you burn enough of it throughout the day.

Sucks to be them. Maybe their next life will be better and ours will suck.

But still not as complex as animals. Humans have to eat (meat).
We have the power to kill thousands of animals in a very short time compared to a lion that can hardly kill one animal at one day. We shouldn’t exaggarate that power and use it with caution and responsibility.

My mom once bought 10 little chicken from a chicken meat farm. We also had 7 normal and healthy chicken that were simply laying eggs. We raised them in our garden. So after a few weeks the 10 “meat” chicken were grown into something totally unnatural for a chicken. The difference between them and our 7 normal chicken was very clear to see. The 10 “meat” chicken has gotten some hormones and other stuff after they hatched (or maybe before , I don’t know). They were at least 4 times heavier and had fewer feathers. 3 of them died very early.

What I want to say is that we should be cautious with what we do with animals. It may develop into something bad.

@Bolteh that garbage thing was referred to a general, not to you or me.
The number 1 reason for obesity is junk food. Most of the junk food contains meat.

Pretty much all of our food contains water, even junk food. Therefore, water makes people fat. Wtf.

Too many french fries will make you fat, too. French fries are a staple of fast food…yet are plants cooked in plant ‘juice’. It’s downright vegan, if you think about it.

Meat doesn’t make one fat. It’s excess calories. If you burn 1,000 calories in a day and consume 2,000 calories (regardless of source), you’ll gain weight.

I agree with you that modifying chickens or other sources of meat solely for consumption is harmful to the animals…however, you cannot tell me if the world converted to a completely vegan menu that the same kind of thing wouldn’t happen to plants. You’d have ginormous tomatoes with no seeds, for example.

The problem here isn’t meat consumption; it’s meat production. And I’m treading dangerously close to a territory that I refused to go back to in this forum so I’ll just leave it there.

sick video indeed, but like they said the world ain’t cute

Omg you didn’t get me. I want to say that fat people eat unneceassarily much out of anything. The topic here is meat. So they are eating unnecessarily much meat. That causes that we have to produce more unnecessary meat.

Everything in nature is complex. We have to be careful how we change it to make it usefull for us.

But the alternative is eating too much vegetables…which will also make you fat. Like I said, if we switch to a solely vegan menu, the entire world, we’d still be producing unnecessary food. Eggplants by the truckload will be thrown out.

Oh come on. Don’t think in extremes. How about eating vegetables with meat. My mom makes delicious turkish food. It’s the perfect middle.

You seriously don’t get it, do you?

If you eat 5000 calories worth of meat a day, but do enough physical exercise to born 6000 you won’t get fatter. It won’t be healthy because you’ll lack certain nutritions etc, but it won’t make you fat.

If you eat 5000 calories worth of “delicious balanced turkish food your mum makes”, but only burn 1000 during the day, you’ll gain fat.

You attacked “meat” as “fast food”. I’m saying that “french fries” are fast food and completely meat-free. The topic is “overeating” or “eating beyond your needs”. It doesn’t matter WHAT we eat. Also, it’s genetic.

Sometimes, your body can’t burn calories in sufficient quantities and it’s not matter of overeating. For example, if your body is only capable burns 500 calories a day and your friend next to you has a body that is capable of burning 2000 calories a day, if you both eat 1000 calories per day, you’ll gain weight while your friend loses weight. Eating the same thing in the same exact quantities.

And if your body can only burn 500 calories a day and you only eat 500 calories a day, you’ll get sick because you’re not consuming enough necessary minerals and vitamins.

I eat meat and vegetables. Dunno about Turkish food, but I try to have a salad with my meal whenever I can.

Simply put, it’s not meat’s fault. It’s not plant’s fault. It’s our bodies’ capability of using what we eat.

Nature is complex, but its complexity isn’t at issue. A computer is very complex; I’m not going to eat it. And I’ll toss it out (recycle) when it’s of no more use to me.

giant facepalm @ bolteh
Do you know what the topic is? Meat. I am not talking about obesity or kalories or how to make a diet and how not. It’s not the balance between burning calories and gaining them.
It’s the balance between amount of meat and amount of vegetable that is important to the topic.

I didn’t say meat is fast food. I said there is meat in lots of different types of fast food.

You can’t just compare complex things without giving attention to their complexity. The complexity of a computer compared to the one of an animal is extremely small.

Nutrient-wise, perhaps. Eating too much of any one thing is bad for you.

Mass production of meat is unhealthy (immoral, disgusting, etc.) and unsustainable: my solution = eat meat twice or thrice a week but real butcher’s meat, knowing exactly where it comes from and how absolutely delicious it is. People are just stupid idiots that are less and less ready to pay for their food, preferring to spend it on changing their one-year old smartphone.
If you want meat every day, you have to pay for it - or eat shit and accept being an asshole.

Doing anything to much is bad for you.

Next time I’m in Seattle I will cook for you But I highly doubt it will be balanced :3

What will you cook?

Just so you guys know,

Right around zero.

I like animals, but I enjoy eating delicious meat more.
