Holy shit I feel like an idiot. When I got to the bar the trader there gave me a new stalker suit with night vision. I double checked the moment I put it on. I completely forgot about it the minute I got underground again, and have been running around with my flashlight the entire time. I’m going to have to remember my night vision when I get home tonight…

It is terrifying. I put off finding the hideout as long as possible thanks to the bloodsuckers down there…
I’m a take-the-high-ground (and retreat-when-confronted) kind of guy…and underground there’s neither high ground, nor somewhere to retreat to.

Hahaha, well the entry-level nightvision isn’t so great either (unless you’re fighting against someone who shoots at your flashlight), you may have been better off with the light.

In fact, the blue enhanced nightvision isn’t good enough to satisfy me either! I modified my game to give my suit a special new mode of nightvision. You know how the screen turns bright golden-sepia above the second lab, and around the Brainscorcher?
I made that post-processor my nightvision. It’s beautiful looking at night and underground, clear and brighter than the other nightvisions. It’s a liiittle bit creepy…but worth it with the enhanced visibility.

Bloodsuckers aren’t that scary. They only freak you out at the first sign of them. After you spot them they are easy. Just use your knife.

I don’t know what difficulty setting you’re on, but for me it takes more than one F1 in the face.

I fucking love the STALKER series.

That added literally nothing to the thread. Nor does this, but I will qualify my post with this:

Call of Pripyat is quite good, but I’m still getting used to it, it seems to be a lot less linear than SoC was.

Once the Call of Pripyat complete mod comes out ill get back into the game. CS and SoC with their respective complete mods are my current favorites.

I’m having an issue with STALKER on my PC. It won’t register ANY savegames at all. Autosaves, quicksaves, manual saves, nothing, but then on my laptop it works fine. Besides the obvious hardware differences, I run Vista Home Basic on PC and Home Premium on the laptop. (This ain’t no Vista flame thread so don’t make it into one) Any help would be killer…heheh…killer…

Antivirus blocking the app maybe?

The problem is now void. I installed STALKER Complete 2009 (Thanks to this thread) and the save problem is gone! And my game got a facelift to boot! Thanks for the advice though Johnyo

i downloaded SoC on steam, doesn’t work, i downloaded CoP and it works fine.

Do you have no C:\ drive? Stalker stores settings and saves by default in C:, regardless of whether or not it exists. Edit fsgame.ltx, and change the path in there to a convenient empty directory, and it should work. I had this problem myself.

He fixed it bro.

Uninstalled Call Of Pripyat, the poor gun mechanics, terrible popping in graphics, all around weird moving around and lack of a real story or drive to play ruined this one for me.

The story doesn’t really kick in good until you reach Pripyat. What settings do run the game at? Because I don’t experience any weird draw distance issues. There are also a fair share of mods and addons out by now that fix up the gun mechanics and other things. Im refraining from doin any major modding to CoP until its respective Complete mod comes out.

The only problem I have with the way that CoP looks is the HUD looks too big for my resolution, even though it’s running at my native.

This game is amazing. I have played FPS since Wolfenstein 3d and this is the most immersive environment I have ever seen. The game is so spooky, and is so addicting.
So i can recommended it to anyone.

Gah, didn’t see that. Ah well.

Yup. Now my only problem is a hardware issue, rather than software. Gotta get and install a liquid cooling system for my GPU and perhaps mah processors, mainly the GPU cuz it overheats when it works too hard.

what gpu are you running?
