Really? 2.5 debuted in 2004, RE0 and REmake were 2002 releases…
It would seem the sources are quite conflicting on this then. For example it was long thought that the first tree ran on Quake Engine, but Kamiya denied as such, not sure if he knows any better tho.
Dotard, stop posting shit.
Capcom rarely used external engines on their internal projects.

EDIT: you are correct, it indeed is shit, Resident Evil came out before Quake even did.
GiantBomb is a great site but I wouldn’t trust their “wiki” section as 100% accurate.
There were a couple or just one Resident Evil spin-off games that indeed used an id Soft engine and those were the Outbreak games, which used the Quake 3 engine.
All the mainline games in the series use proprietary engines and most of the spin-off games too.
Yeah I was gonna hop on here and say. Digging through the internet only gets you forum posts and wiki posts almost all of which a disputed. I am pretty sure if they were using a 3rd party engine you could find out what engine specifically it was. Also if you look up interviews about the Wii version of Dead Rising they state it runs of the “Resident Evil 4” engine lending more evidence to them preferring internal engines.
Speaking of which, Capcom’s own MT Framework engine is really really good.
Looks pretty good to me. Can anyone see any missing effects like most of these remakes apparently have? I haven’t played the Gamecube version in forever.
We are never going to get those effects back, deal with it.
It was something exclusive to the Gamecube/Wii versions.
As it stands, it looks really good. Smooth, sharp 60fps gameplay.
Won’t it be possible to “hack-in” those effects as post-processing using dll files, with ENB series for example?
Don’t know. Personally I don’t miss something I didn’t have.
It’s in human nature to want what others have or we can’t get tho
I guess I’m not a very natural human.
Right, you are that kind thought to be long extinct.
As far as I am concerned, if I were to hack in better effects / graphics into a game a couple of shaders wouldn’t be the first thing I’d do. In some time I could see general modding improvements if its possible with the game but I doubt it’d just be limited to bringing back two things.
Ideally I’d like a complete remake in the RE6 engine with all the bells and whistles.
