Research and Development-mod

I would, but I don’t have EP2:’(

Dont have episode 2? :fffuuu:

About the mod i must say i realy enjoyed it, very smart and well put together, some great puzzles in there. Would love to see this guy make some puzzles for valve. Mr.Whirly did handle strange for something with wheels though.

The latest version which i played also doesnt have any bugs, at least didnt bug for me.

I only really got stuck at one point:

When you encounter the hallway with the pipe shooting out steam that you couldn’t pass. I didn’t realize for a while what I had to do.

That’s actually the part I got stuck at too.

But I guess the fact that we found it out sooner or later means it was challenging enough without being ridiculous huh? :stuck_out_tongue:

I just beat it now, I liked the ending

Only part I got stuck was when you had to build the bridge with the beams.

From a logical point of view, they’re very clever. What’s the point in a puzzle if you work it out straight away?

I found the mod really fun and fairly rewarding when a puzzle was solved. None of them were stupid, some just needed lateral thinking.

Forklift’s forks attached to a wall and moving a way that all they can do is destroy everything they touch is logical to you? Or plugs hangin’ right in the middle of a corridor made of metal wire is?

I got stuck trying to figure out how to get out of the room I woke up in. See my problem with this mod? I am just not kewl enough for it. =*(

Read the stuff on the walls. It will give you a hint.

I found the concept of Ginger hilarious. Reduced body weight = having no legs. :3

There was some really great humour in this mod, and some really fun sequences like the railcart section and Mr. Whilrly… The boss fights were excellent too. The puzzles were nicely challenging in places.

That ain’t what I meant, and joo know it.

I should REALLY have gotten the ORANGE box…

Just to ask, I’m pretty sure it’s not the case, but can I use a game that uses the Orange Box engine? 'Cause I have Portal. Or do I need Episode Two in particular?

But that’s what I meant in the original post :stuck_out_tongue:

No it really requires Episode 2 since it uses content from it. Sorry buddy.

Research and Development was fun, but I don’t understand why everyone is saying the game is frustrating. I’m 13, and yet I figured out how to solve every puzzle in a minute or less. The mod was hilarious in some parts, Mr. Whirly being the best.

You need Ep:2 in particulars. Specific models and all that technical malarkey.

Just so you know, different people’s minds work in different ways. What may seem obvious to you won’t be as obvious to them. And it works in vice versa too.

I also liked all the little texture/decal hints about where to go/look too - I’ll have to replay it again so I can nuke that sniper with the nicely indicated gasbottles… saw them too late the first time thru.

Well, I’m probably gonna buy Episode Two in the next couple days, just got $20, and it’s only $15, so I’ll be sure to give this a whirl.

Zing.

If I were you, but i am not, so feel free to do what feels best for you, don’t play episode 2 just yet. I don’t know how much you know about it but it will leave you drooling to findout what happens next, and that could be awhile still. :frowning:
