For some reason I simply love roving around a large environment and do whatever the hell I want… probably stemmed from playing Crazy Taxi as a kid. I haven’t played much (or any) of those games nowadays… any recommendations for any good sandbox style titles (for the PC) out there? And knowing this forum I might as well start a discussion on sandbox style games in general. Any favorites I can try out?
I’m not sure if you would consider it quite a sandbox game or not, but I had alot of fun with “Prototype”.

Don’t get me started on why it is THE sandbox game.
Any of the GTA games would work. Prototype is fun for a little bit, and Just Cause 2 looks pretty cool.
On second thought… maybe sandbox was the wrong term. I was thinking more in terms of having a large world to explore, not necessarily where you can do stuff to objects.

My vote goes for GTA4 and/or Prototype
FUEL has like the biggest world ever. its sometimes really relaxing to just drive thru it and see the sightes. sometimes boring as hell tho and the racing is a bit hit and miss.

Get S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl if you like Russian post-nuclear settings with a good amount of difficulty and good atmosphere.
And remember to install the 2009 mod for an extra dose of awesome.

Call Of Pripyat is better than modded Shadow of Chernobyl.
Just Cause 2 is pretty good.
I started up Pripyat at max settings, stared for a few minutes, moved past the first couple of trees. Yelled WHAT THE FUCK. Wandered my way (seemingly aimlessly) around. Eventually stumbled upon a boat with people. They were useless. Found another boat. More people. This guy had a mission! Sent me to previous boat to kill those people. Yelled WHAT THE FUCK. Failed mission after all inhabitants of first boat were dead. Yelled WHAT THE FUCK. Wandered back to other boat, found another boat after a radiation wave. Watched horrendously long cutscene of guy running through field of anomolies. Followed. Found helicopter. Yelled WHAT THE FUCK at horrible… just plain horribleness. exited. demanded a refund. Got a refund. Am now happy.
I had expected something that looked a little better than that. And maybe a little less gangsta russians.
I’m sure it’s great for hardcore STALKER fans, but I’m a regular fan, and kind of expected a bit more. Meh.

I always liked Shovel Adventures, but the add-on Bucketland kind of destroyed the franchise.
