R.I.P. Jimi Hendrix (Music Thread)

Today (Sept.18) was the day Jimi Hendrix died :[

The Greatest Guitar Player To Ever Live.

Anyone out there still like that kind of music? Anyone out there ever even touched a guitar?

I don’t feel like today’s music has the strength that music once had; people were so original and passionate about their music back in Jimi’s time. It’s not that I don’t like modern music, it’s just that for some reason, classic musicians like Hendrix and Dylan never failed to make me smile to their tunes, while I have to dance around genres to find any music I like these days. Nothing fills the void like some badass guitar riffs. I guess I really just love my guitar music :stuck_out_tongue:

I guess opinion truly is a spectacle.

Regardless, does anyone have any musical opinion on this, or have a song they’d like to share?

I honestly love to listen to other people’s musical opinions and why they enjoy their genre of music; anything from classical to techno, etc.

[COLOR=‘Cyan’]Feel free to jump into any topic music-related.

[COLOR=‘Black’]P.S. Sorry for dancing onto multiple topics…

I used to live right next to the cemetery where Hendrix is buried.

Whhhaattt? Dude, that’s so badass. I would so play guitar on his gravestone and feel like a boss – aw yeah!

I love Hendrix, however:

Every era had popular music that was considered trash by certain groups of people. Hendrix wasn’t loved by every living soul in his era, a lot of people didn’t like his new style of blues rock.

I still listen to blues, jazz, blues rock, rock, and so on (on a daily basis). I also play guitar, but I picked that up because of J Mascis.

Catchy beats, lyrics people can relate to, cool attitudes, pretty looks, whatever.

Like whatever you want to like, listen to whatever you want to listen to. Derp.

This thread so far tells me you’re lying.

You’re absolutely right - gonna change that now.

I thought I could strategically put my opinion in my original post without being clear - didn’t work. I was about to remove it anyways, thanks.

Also, I was touching more on the line of the lack of talent it takes these days to become a star. I have nothing against people like Justin Beiber, but back in the day everyone could play acoustic guitar and most people could sing. My point was based on the sell-outs and the truly talented musicians that can’t get their name out their because they’re not visually attractive. Definitely should have been more clear.

Hope that clears that up. Because honestly, my opinion of music isn’t greater than anyone else’s, I know this.

Re-worded the original post for the pragmatic.

I lived there for almost a year and didn’t know it. There’s a McDonald’s right next to the cemetery (on the other side) that I frequented (a bit too often) and I looked over into the cemetery once and saw this structure with a rounded top. The curiosity got the better of me and I checked it out.

And saw it was the Jimi Hendrix Memorial. :fffuuu: :’(

I went to visit Jim Morrison’s grave in Paris once. The entire thing was covered in black marker writings and all the edges of the tombstone were chipped off by “fans” that wanted a piece of his grave.

Talk about desecration.

Morrison would probably have wanted it that way.

Hendrix is dead? Fuck man, this is news to me. Well, at least Kurt Kobain is still around, I’d be devastated if he died too.

Lol… It’s “Cobain” by the way.

yup Jimi’s music is awesome, and I love his blues\rock style, though my main inspirations to pick and play a guitar were Hetfield and Cobain

Jimmy Page > Jimi Hendrix, both on a creative level and a technical one.

dude are you retarded
everyone ever has “touched a guitar” its the most retardedly easy instrument

god you’re such an idiot i cant even
your close minded view of music is the worst thing and i hope you get hit by a train
i bet jimi hendrix would be goddamn ashamed of your sorry ass

:frowning: He’s just a kid.

you’re losing your touch, fancy

Oh and my two cents: listen to Jason Mraz. His music style is really unique, blending in different genres like old-school rap, rock, jazz, even a little classical, etc. into his music. Not only that, his voice is exceptionally trained and, as a whole, he’s one of my favorite musicians to listen to

no this time im actually serious
er than usual

and she was talking to?

OP obviously…?

D:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Mang, I feel terrible.

There’s a lot of good music still coming out. I’m sure the stuff that you remember or that is still played today is not the music that was in the public eye when it came out.

You just have to dig a little deeper and there’s still some amazing artists.
